Quilts return to the Lambton Heritage Museum'
QMI Agency
The North Lambton Quitters' Guild
members are busy preparing for their
upcoming show- 'From Yesterday to
Today'- at the Lambton Heritage
Museum from June 23th to 25th. This
year's show will have extended hours:
Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 8
pm. and Saturday, from 10 a,m, to 4
p.m, Since the NLQG's last public show
in 2009, there has been a wealth of excit-
ing work produced by both new and
long-standing members, showing a vari-
ety of interests, styles and methods of
quilting, from traditional to fine art
quilting. This new show will include
many quilted items, as well as approxi-
mately 50 bed size quilts, many dis-
played hanging full length throughout
the museum, A special feature at this
show is the Wardsville Barn Quilt which
will be on display with information on
this fascinating project.
As in previous shows, the Guild will
again be offering light lunches of fresh
sandwiches, cold and hot drinks and
desserts to visitors. After enjoying the
quilt display and lunch, visitors can do
some shopping at the calico shop or
local quilt shop vendors or by heading
out the back doors to check out the
Garage Sale tent for all sorts of bargains
such as unfinished quilt tops, orphan
blocks, fabric, patterns, sewing notions
and much more! Remember -'One per-
son's junk is another person's treasure!'
'There will be all sorts of treasures in the
Garage Sale! Cash and carry only.
The North Lambton Quitters' Guild
was formed in 1989 by a group of
women with a shared interest in all
things quilting. The guild currently
meets on the 4thWednesday of the
month, September to June, at the Pt.
Franks Optimists Ilan while the Legacy
Centre is under construction. Some of
the yearly progratnme activities include
Block of the Month, Charm Square,
Block and Row Robin exchanges, speak-
ers and demonstrations. The guild has
hosted well-known guest speakers as
well as drawing on the talent within its
membership for presentations and
workshops over the years. Guild mem-
bers also give generously of their time
and talent to support Pro Bono quilts
which are assembled from donated
blocks and then given to people in the
community suffering difficulty in their
lives.
Mark June 23th to 25th on your calen-
dar! Come out and enjoy the show, Stay
for lunch, seek out sewing supplies or
bargains and admire the work of other
talented quitters, as you take in the
impressive handiwork on display at the
North Lambton Quitters' Guild Show at
the Lambton Heritage Museum.
