Drug search' warrant executed:
$24,000 worth of suspected illegal substances seized

On June 6, 2011 at around 10:30 a.m.,
members of the Lambton County Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) Safe Streets hilt, assisted
by OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau
t)rug Enforcement Unit and Lambton OPP
Canine, executed a drug search warrant at a
residence in the 10 000 block of Daniel Avenue
in Lambton Shores. During the search, 500
suspected marihuana plants were seized along
with approximately 14 kilograms of suspected
marihuana at varying stages of being promised.
A quantity of suspected oxycodone was also
seized. 'ihe estimated street value of the seizure
is $24,000•
A 45 year old woman and 42 year old man
both from Lambton Shores have been charged
with Possession of a Controlled Substance,
Possession of a Controlled Substance for the
Purpose of Trafficking and Production of a
Controlled Substance (x2). they will appear in a
Sarnia Court on July 25, 2011 to speak to the
charges.
COPPER WIRE THEFTS
1'he Lambton County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) is investigating a number of thefts
of copper wire from communication tower sites
in the Town of Plylnpton-Wyoming, Warwick
'IUwrnship, Enniskillen lbwnship, St. Clair 'limn -
ship and now the latest one in the lbwnship of
Brooke-Alvinston. lhe cost to repair the damage
can reach into the thousands of dollars, not to
mention the fact that anyone not authorized to
service these sites is considered to he trespassing.
We are asking for the public to be vigilant and to
report any suspicious vehicles or persons you
encounter around these sites.
LOCAL MAN DIES IN CRASH
Ronald I)esjardine (74) of Bosanquet has
been identified as the driver of a single vehicle
crash last Thursday at approximately 10 p.m.
The (rash occurred on Bluewater I iighway north
of Grand Bend. The involved vehicle was
towelling northbound. The driver was passing
another northbound vehicle when he began to
drift onto the west shoulder and then into the
ditch. 'lhe vehicle struck a tree and came to rest
at the Oakwood Golf Course. Mr. Desjardine
was pronounced dead at the scene.
STUDENTS CAUSE PROBLEMS IN GRAND BEND
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Lambton
Detachment reports that officers were kept busy
on Friday afternoon after numerous bus loads of
students from the London and Kitchener areas
arrived in the Village.
Between 11:00 aan. and midnight on June 3,
Lambton officers laid 84 Liquor licence Related
charges. 'These charges were mainly for
underage drinking, being intoxicated in public
and for having liquor in open container in other
than licensed premises, residence or private
place. Many individuals were arrested and held
in cells until they were sober enough to be
released. Also during that time, 13 drug relateilk
charges, 4 Highway Traffic Act charges, and A.
Trespass to Property charges were laid. 1 charge
was also laid under the Criminal Code for failing
to abide by a court order. Grand Bend By-Iaw
officers report that they laid 100 parking tickets
on Friday. These statistics from Friday alone are
more than the OPP and By-law officers laid over
the entire May 24th weekend.
Inspector Fred Wessels, detachment
commander of the Lambton OPP, assures
everyone that the OPP will continue to work
with the Municipality of Lambton Shores to keep
the village safe. Inspector Wessels cautions
those who think they can just show up and party
without facing consequences. "This type of
behaviour is not welcome and it will not be
tolerated. My officers will continue with our
no -tolerance approach to those who choose to
drink excessively and cause problems,”
