It is someone's job to pick up and clean the beach and personally 1 have never seen enough garbage cans on the beach and how infrenquently the cleaned out. l would think you would need several people full time to keep up. People will use garbage cans if they are close and clean, and beleve the same of the washrooms, Kids have always skipped school in good weather. By keeping things more organized and safer, they can have fun and 1 believe the businesses and tax payers will be happier. Road work getting worse not better Dear Hditor; In recent weeks , and a► second time in recent memory the highway NI section from Grand Bend south past Greenway and ending near Corbett has been reworked , Fach time it gets worse not better, I'm no expert , nor Liberal but this plan of regurgitated the old pavement , adding fluid asphalt and then re - applying It seems futile, In most assns of Ontario fresh blank asphalt or even cement Is laid down, the highway yellow stripes are applied immediately and the Debbie Denomme Job is done. Perhaps , this is a Dalton McGuinty experiment in trying to create a gravel road thru a recycled asphalt program; If so, finally he and his government have found success in this program . But without the signage and photo opportunities usually associated, 1 don't think this was the objective either. From the countryside John Russell Lakeshore Advance Wouldn't you know it, It's dejn vu time all over atµnln in Yankee land, much to do 411)0111 nothing time In Stratford land and Its sunny and the vlsigoths have descended on Grand Bend time here, Sounds like the same old early stunner to me but maybe 1 am looking at things without my reds, It could be a good dose of Kurt Vontegut jr, might put things In order for Ilse, But seriously folks, do we have to always take sorb a public and collective bird when young people arrive In Grand Bend en masse and create havoc with the sensibilities of the citizens and the constabulary alike, Or is this a reflex action that has attached itself to our memories, an emotional cry that' the riots' Wright happen 41µatnYWhnt a comparison, real biker initiated chaos fifty years ago or facehook Initiated stupidity today, Let's get a grip. Nobody can make excuses for Illegal and had behavior In public places unless you're In the middle of it rebellion or a demonstration or something where we exercise our rights. The right to assembly comes with the right to act accordingly, Drinking underage or illegal in some other way Is usually the beginning of lodger crowd problems as we witnessed. Nip the behavior In the bud, Do what MNR did twenty plus years ago and create zero tolerance by Robt Webb Grand Bend banning alcohol on May 24. Fridays in June in Grand Bend are R.1.1),I:. program days , all day long, no excuses, But please, let's create good news instead of the National Enquirer drivel about convictions after a weekend in the Bend. Grand Bend is and has been a party town for over a hundred years. You've probably noticed in your travels as we have, that these party locales, G. B., Sauble and Wasaga are spaced out along the West Coast. Funny how the other communities fill in the geography but don't attract the mass beach crowd experience. This generation of young adults are no different than any other past generation. Their only two excuses are instant messaging and being the second class graduating, having had the Internet always. Oh, Whatever! These things can be exploited in a positive wary. Imagine a community that has the guts to now market to next years crop. We are open for business and especially for you on Fridays in June, t fere are the rules, no alcohol tolerance but discounts on everything up and down the strip, entertainment, busking tryouts and a chance to be part of Internet history, flash mobbing on cue. Volleyball nets up and welcome signs too! Maybe we could try something new like Port Dover did by Inviting wannabe rebel boomer bikers to hang. Funny how the real bikers show too and nobody riots. And that's how I see it this week. letters to the editor Time to confront the anti -wind fear campaign Dear Editor, • Sierra Club Canada's report The Real Truth About WInd Energy is available again on the Club's website. The report brings together the best science on the alleged health impacts of wind turbines. A notice of legal action caused it to be temporarily removed after 1700 downloads. "People want to know the truth. We will not be deterred from speaking out by bullying, intimi- dation or attacks on our reputation," said John Bennett, Executive Director of Sierra Club Canada. Sierra Club Canada is Just the latest target of anti -wind energy groups who appear to be out to destroy the reputations of those who do not share their views. "We have been accused of being paid -off by government and industry - which is simply not true," said Bennett. "liven our youth wing has been smeared because it's a partner in the "High School Climate Challenge" (HSCC). The alleged crime? HSCC is a program of Clean Air Champions which receives funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. "The real public health risk is from climate change and air pollution. This week the United Nations reported that in 2010, over 42 tnillion people lost their homes due to natural disasters, includ- ing climate change -related storms, floods and drought," said Bennett. "That's 17 million more than the year before." Sierra Club Canada believes rural Ontarians are being frightened and confused when it comes to wind energy. Sierra Club Canada remains strongly supportive of wind turbines but notes the importance of locating them away from residences, known migratory bird flyways and other sensitive areas.
