Bach Music Festival of Canada offers phe-
Nr Aomenal music experience for kids.
After some years of neglect, choirs are becom-
ing cool, and maybe some credit goes to a par-
ticular television show that's grabbing attention
from young singers these days. On the Choirs
Ontario website there are 251 choirs registered,
in the province and across Canada. That's a con-
siderable number of people who love singing
together, especially if we think about the number
of choirs that aren't 'registered' online or else-
where but sing out all over the province and
country.
There are now more than 25,000 registered in
Britain according to a listing available online.
Historically choirs gathered to enhance religious
and special cultural events and celebrations. "He
who sings frightens away his ills, said Cervantes.
Even John Harvey Kellogg - Mr. Cornflakes him-
self - had this to add in 1931: "Singing promotes
health, breathing, circulation and digestion."
If Mr. Kellogg is to be believed then just imag-
ine the benefits that singing J. S. Bach's music
contributes to a positive mental outlook as well
as a healthy constitution, for young and mature
singers alike.
The Bach Music Festival performances are
certain to delight audience members as well as
enhance the appeal of choral music.

Participation is encouraged and young people
are not overlooked in the Festival's programme.
There's a music camp! The young singers in the
region can take full advantage of this special
'camp' available to explore their own talent for
joining the choir: from Monday July 11 until Fri-
day July 15 starting at 9:00am and ending at
4:OOpm each day there will be a week of music
making, friendship and fun -filled activities, cul-
minating in a Final Concert. This special Festival
'camp' promises to give each young person
involved an extraordinary experience with
music.
The Bach Music Festival of Canada Children's
and Youth (Unchanged Voices) is open to girls
and boys ages 9 to 18 years. To best prepare these
young singers for the Festival week, there will IR.
rehearsals in the few weeks prior to the Festival,
to allow these choir members an opportunity to
learn the music and meet some of their fellow
choristers. These preliminary sessions mean that
the first rehearsal will be all about singing!
Festival Chaperones will welcome the young

OPP report
Lakeshore Advance
With the warmer weather fast
approaching, OPP want to warn
Lambton County residents about
the law as it applies to golf carts and
similar motorized vehicles being
operated on roadways.
Lambton OPP have received calls
of concern from various locations
across the County where persons
are operating golf carts, ATV's and
even riding lawnmowers on area

Simply stated, golf carts are not
permitted on any highway (or

This is not the first time police
have warned citizens of the illegal
use of these motorized vehicles.
If offenders are stopped, police
will take a position of zero tolerance
to curb this dangerous and illegal
behavior.
Operators of motorized vehicles
that are not designated for highway

apply to drivers of vehicles like cars,
trucks and motorcycles.. These
charges include (but are not limited
