Blyth Festival gears up for annual used book sale and pie bake
Blyth, Ontario, May 10, 2011—The
Blyth Festival's is gearing up for its 34th
annual used book sale and pie bake. 'the
fundraiser, which takes place at Blyth
Memorial Community Hall June 3 - 4, is
the largest of its kind in Huron County.
Thousands of gently used hard and soft
cover books, romance novels, videos,
board games, children's books, sheet
music, CDs, audio tapes and records will
be on sale, along with Lynda's county-
wide famous pies!
"'the book sale and pie bake is not only
one of our longest -standing and most
successful fundraising events, but it has
become a Blyth Festival tradition!" says
General Manager Deb Sholdice. "People
from all over the county, and as far away
as Stratford, London and Waterloo, line
up early to stock up on summer reading
and enjoy a slice of homemade pie"
The book sale is open Friday, June 3,
from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, lune
4 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Admission is
free. Light refreshments will be available
for sale, as well as homemade apple and
rhubarb pies. Pre -orders for whole pies
are encouraged by calling 519-523-

The Blyth Festival is also seeking
Photo fitness with Huron youth
Iluron County - Calling all 14-24 year olds in Iluron County
- get your running shoes and cameras out! SPARK and the
Huron County llealth Unit are hosting a "Photo Fitness" con-
test on Facebook.
Young people are invited to take photos of their friends or
family being physically active. The action shots will then be
posted on SPARK's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/
HuronSpark) for all youth to vote on the winners. 'Ihe youth
who submits the photo with the most "likes" will win a $100
gift card to a Iluron County sporting goods store of their
choice. Their picture will also be featured on SPARK's website
(www,youthspark.ca). 'there will be one grand prize winner
and eight runner-ups.
Public Health Promoter Angela Ritchie says, "ibis contest
is a great way to get Iluron youth involved in being active.
This Photo Fitness contest is a neat way to focus on the
importance of being active while looking at something
extremely creative!" Ritchie is encouraging everyone in
Huron, especially youth, to check out the SPARK Facebook
page.
Photo submissions will begin May 16th and will close on
June 5th, Fans (Facebook users who visit the page) can vote
on their favourite photos from June 6th until June 17th.
