This week we have our Easter egg hunt put on by our letters to the editor Helping the stray cat issues Ib the editor: In the village of Grand Bend, it is not uncommon to find stray or abandoned, lost cats living " on the streets " . They usually lack sufficient food and proper shelter from dreadfully cold and wet weather . Perhaps it is time once more, to address our stray cat concern with a concerted effort to improve their living conditions . By helping these homeless cats/ kittens, we are also helping to avoid side issues to our indoor cats . Some of the strays this past winter have been fortunate in the sense that they have been receiving food from a few kind individuals . It is believed, how -ever, that more could be done for our homeless cats . If you would like to help in any fash- ion, please call either Susan at 519- 238- 8767 or enutil Marianne at www.kit- tykondos.net OR kondos.kitt'y gntil. cont . We are hoping to help our furry friends with their shelter, feeding, and other needs . In the meantime we would appreciate any loaning of rea- sonably small live traps ( Readers want councilors moved out lb tineditor: 'thanks to Bob Fisher for writing the letter (April 13) that fits half the Bluewater council perfectly. If the chosen few on council cannot do their job properly, (grow up and act like real people) then they should resign. We don't need babies on council who do nothing but play with their soothers- wake up voters and let's move these councilors out. If we don't do something soon then they will try students council. Many students will get to test their hunting skills before Easter Day. We also don't have school on Friday or Monday due to the fun holiday that is upcoming! On April 29th our students are getting very excited for the Much Dance at the South Huron Rec. Centre. It is 10$ for a ticket at school but if you don't get it in titne it's 12$ at the door. With sincere thanks, Susan Linden and Marianne Van De L.eygraaf to rani the sewers (that we don't need) down our throats. As Gillespie says, and 1 quote, "We all want sewers" 1 don't think so. John Russell Lakeshore Advance If it weren't enough that we have spring and the Stanley Cup playoffs all at once, some joker comes along and says there's an election. Before long he is joined by any number of like minded individuals who seem to think this democracy thing has resonance in the cool spring. Such is the hard life on this side of the world where we have the choice to snake choices and not get shot. '1'o change the night of the debate because of hockey is not that much of a stretch considering in the rest of the world football closes entire continents when the fever pitch hits. Of course, celebrations at the local rink or the Molson Centre very rarely involve gunfire just the odd vandalism to prove there still is some fire left in the belly of this pablum land. While watching the first game the other night, I realized a couple of things. First, that the only time that I watch this game anymore on the tube is when the kids are over. The second is the size of the players in relation to the smallest player on the ice and the seemingly small rinks they now play on. Only in Canada you say! When the expansion fever continued on from the sixties through to the nineties, many existing NHtl. teams had to make decisions on what to do with the old barns. The new ones being built had new revenue streams from other entertainment products, corporate boxes and a better experience for the fans. 'the one decision they could have done but didn't was making the ice surface Olympic size. On the revenue side this was a no -no but on the game side, would have been a positive. As the players got larger, the game changed, remember the Devilish trap, and the ice became clogged. Skilled smaller players were marginalized until recently and the 4 on 4 overtime and Olympics play every four years proves how much better it can be. When I was eight, the Black Ilawks won the cup.
