"We are pleased by the
opportunity that full-day Kin-
d ergar tetl brings to our
school."
Bosanquet (:entral's Princi-
pal Steve 'Phomas was reacting
to the Ontario Education min-
istry's announcement that his
'Medford area public elemen-
tary school will be among 900
schools adding full week
classes for four and five year
olds effective in September.
No new construction or ren-
ovations will be required. "The
program will he incorporated
into our existing classroom
facilities and plans are cur-
rently in the works to provide a
seamless transition to this
program,' Thomas told the The
Advance. "We currently pro-
vide full-day, every other day
service.'
Will Bosanquet's leg -up to
full service attract enrolment
of K students from other area
schools' territories'? Principal
Thomas responded, "The pro-
gram should not have a signifi-
cant impact regarding out of
boundary students as we are
still governed by provincial
caps on primary class size as
well as our local board policy
on out -of -boundary students.'
Ile further commented,
"Each year we look forward to
a new group of excited young-
sters beginning their educa-
tional journey here at Bosan-
quet and our numbers
continue to remain steady.
While the full-day
Kindergarten program is fairly
new and there are questions
that people may have, it is
anticipated that the program
will become an important
component of our educational
programming here at the
school."
The province's list of Sep-
tember, 2012 conversion to
full-service Kindergartens also
includes 1(ensall Public School
in the Municipality of Bluewa-
ter as well as McGillivray Cen-
tral Public School and East
Williams Memorial Public
