Councillors
debate OPP
request to post
winter road
conditions on
county website

Because of multiple requests from the
public for information about road condi-
tions during this year's snowy winter, the
1 luron OPP has asked l luron County to
create a webpage that would provide
road information to local residents.
And, while a report with more infor-
mation will he presented in the future to
county councillors, those attending last
week's committee of the whole meeting;
did not see a clear path to the idea of
posting white-out conditions on-line.
"I really hesitate to put road condi-
tions on our website. I think we should
keep it simple if we do anything at alt,"
said Coun. Paul Klapp (Mummer).
Director of Public Works Dave l,;utrie
told councillors that Bruce and Grey
Counties offer road conditions on their
website hut added, "Sometimes, it's not
that up-to-date."
Laurie said offering an up-to-date
service would involve a 15-20 hour per
week commitment by county staff,
including two updates outside of county
office hours since information would be
current from 6:30 a.nt. to 9 p.m.
Corn. Joe Steffler (1 luron East) wanted
to know how often the information
would be updated and Warden Neil Vin-
cent asked how detailed the information
would be.
