Friday night will be a musical
explosion as four local bands
take to the stage at the Grand
Bend Legion. The students are
all musically inclined make up
Amitity Beach, Demonic
Demon Killers, Freedom tinder
Fire and Nine Doors. One of the
groups stopped by the Lake-
shore Advance office to explain
music lovers should come to the
show, on the first day of this
year's Grand Bend Winter Car-
nival. Amity Beach is made up
of Geoffe Baillie, Jordon
Hansen, Andrew Gill, Grayson
Homuth, and Fraser Moore.
This group are South Huron
High students and are in that
school's music program. This
band, four years old, though is
outside the school program and
they are having fun. Gill and
Moore are grade 12 students,
Baillie and Ilolmuth grade 11
and Hansen grade 10. "We are
basically alternative Indy type
music," they said. They love to
write their own ideas about eve-
rything from love to pizza. "We
try to keep it youthful and we
always keep it fun," says Gill.
BaiHee and Gill share the
singing and both play guitar.
Ilolmuth is keyboard and cyn-
thisizer, Moore plays base and
}Hansen drums. Most of the
group have taken lesson in eve-
rything from guitar to violin,
drums and piano. Two of thein
teach music to younger stu-
dents. Once a week the guys
practice their hobby at the Bail-
tle home. They critique each
others work and perfect and
polish their craft all the
time. And has all this work paid
off? You bet, they have a great
fan base, groupies who follow
only the hest musicians and
hest of all their fans are begin-
ning to recognize their songs.
If each had to select one
musical idol it would be David
Bowie for Bailie, Jeff Tweety for
Gill, Buddy Rich for Hansen,
Billy Joel for Homuth and John
Paul Jones for Moore.
At the event on February 4th.
there will be authentic Amity
Beach T-shirts and some musi-
cal give aways. "We think peo-
ple will be pleasantly surprised:
says Gill adding their fun, origi-
nal music will be the basis for a
great event.
'the four groups encourage all
music lovers, young and not so
young to an event offer-
ing scores of talent, music flow-
ing and a great promotion of the
talented youth from the area.
