Ready, Set...Walk for a Cause

Huron County, ON -- Put on your
walking shoes and join The Alzheimer
Society of I luron County for their 2011
Walk for Memories presented by the
Investors Group. The indoor Walk will
take place from l0am-12 noon on Sat-
urday January 29, 2011, with five Walk
locations throughout I luron County.
Walks are being held at: St Anne's
Catholic Secondary School in Clinton,
South Huron District high School in
Exeter, YMCA in Goderich, Seaforth
Public School in Seaforth and P.E. Madill
Secondary School in Winghant.
Both individuals and teams are
invited to participate. 'There is no
minimum or maximum number of
Walkers needed per team, which makes
it easy to enter a team. While there is no
registration fee, Walkers are asked to
collect pledges. 'ihe money raised goes
towards the services and programs
offered by the Society.
"Our Walk is one of our biggest events
and everyone has a great time. With
Walks all over the County, it's easy to
participate." Says Cathy Ritsema,
executive director. "1 would like to
encourage everyone to participate in
the 2011 Walk for Memories. If you had
a new year's resolution to get fit -here is
the perfect opportunity to get started.
Come out and join a walk in your local
area. Not only will you feel great
physically, you will also be staking a
difference for people living with
Alzheimer's disease':

Last impaired driver of 2010 arrested in
Exeter, first for 2011 in Bluewater

On December 31, 2010 Huron ()PP officers set
up a RIDE check In Exeter. At approximately 11:15
pm a vehicle was observed driving aggressively
toward the checkpoint. The vehicle was stopped
and upon speaking to the driver, the officer
determined that the driver was impaired by
alcohol. 'ihe driver was arrested and taken to the
Exeter OPP Detachment where he provided two
samples of his breath to a qualified lntoxilir.er
Technician. 'ihe results of the tests confirmed that
the driver had over two times the legal limit of
alcohol in his system.
As a result of the stop, a 21 year old South I futon
roan has been charged with one count of Impaired
Driving, one count of Drive With Over 80
Milligrams of Alcohol, one count of Young Driver
B.A.C. Above Zero, one count of Drive With ()pen
Container of Alcohol and one count of Drive Motor
Vehicle Not Equipped With Approved Ignition
Interlock Device. I le will answer to his charges in
the Ontario Court of Justice -- Exeter on April 14,
2011. 'Ihe vehicle he was driving was impounded
for 7 days and his licence was suspended for 90

First impaired driver of 2011 arrested in

(131.111:WATER, ON) On January 1, 2011 at
approximately 2:30 ant Huron ()PP officers were
patrolling in I lensall when they observed a vehicle
being driven erratically. 'Ihe vehicle was stopped
and upon speaking to the lone occupant, the
officer formed the grounds that the driver was
impaired by alcohol. The male was arrested and
taken to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he
provided two samples of his breath to a qualified
lntoxilizer'Ie'chnician. Me results of the tests con-
firmed that the driver had approximately :3 times
the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
As a result of the traffic stop, a 37 year old
Bluewater has been charged with one count of
impaired Driving and one count of Drive With
Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. Ile will answer to
his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice - Exeter
on April 14, 2011. Me vehicle he was driving was
impounded for 7 days and his drivers' licence was
suspended for 90 days.
