The Kaeden Brown Foundation, established as a memorial to hire, contributed $40,000 for pur- chase of the equipment. Birnam Excavating donated the excavating, foundation and man- power and Trevor l liggs Trucking donated time to haul fill for the project at the Northville Road school, west of Thedford. Overall value of the project is estimated at upwards of $70,000. NOVEMBER-Lambton Shores has been fined $20,000 because a contractor flushed 2,000 gal- lons of iron -laden material from the Arkona water tower into a storm drain leading to the Ausable River. The water tower, built in 1987, which serves 600 residents, was drained to within a foot of the bottom in 2008. The municipality and the contractor, l.andniark Tank and 'lower Services Corp., pleaded guilty to allowing the Wednesday May 7, 2008 discharge, in violation of the Ontario Water Resources Act. The contractor was fined $30,000 in September. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 • Lakeshore Advance 11 Please come to Zurich meeting Carmel Sweeney Lakeshore Advance Please show your support by attend- ing a special meeting in Zurich, January 11, 2011 at 8 p.m. (location 'FBA). Exter- nal interests have decided to close Zurich Public School, store natural gas raider the village and to surround the Village of Zurich with large wind tur- bines. Why—should children endure a longer bus ride? Why...store natural gas under a populated area? Why- surround a populated area with wind turbines when costs and heaths concerns exist? 'those at the helm ask who has the right to determine the fate of others? A spe- cial guest will be in attendance to listen to our community. Christmas trees can be dropped off at the back of the arena complex until Mon., Jan. 17 to be recycled. St. Peter's Church will be celebrating their 150th anniversary in 2011 with their theme being "Generations of Faith" Special events are being planned throughout the year which began with a special service on Sun., Jan. 2, where the men sat on the one side of the church and the women on the other side, Just like it use to be back then. The special service was followed by a levee in the fellowship hall. Some members were even dressed in clothing from that era. ()n Sun., Jan. 9 after the worship serv- ice a congregational sleeting will be held regarding the restoration of the "First Cemetery" Personals l (appy 50th birthday wishes go out to Phil Dietrich on Dec. 31, Friends and relatives helped him to celebrate the occasion. Our Sweeney family had another great Christmas together with lots of activities going on through out the holi- days with our girls and their families. We even went skating on Boxing I)ay at the arena along with several friends and relatives. Michael Wilder of Alberta spent the Christmas holidays with his parents Lionel and Vicki at RR #1 Varna along with relatives and friends in the area.
