R. CHARLEY ODum, who is a farmer and
merchant on the Bonita road in Lauder-
dale County, Mississippi, which has not been
improved, plainly evidences his dissatisfaction
with the road conditions with which he has
to deal. Mr. Odum says:
"There has'nt been a time since the firtt of December that
I have been alle to get anything haided to my place from
Meridian, just four miles, for lest than 25 ewe per hundred.
In.the majority of instances it has cost me as high as 50 cents
and a good rnany time it has been impossible to get it at
any price. The people in my community have actually had
to go without oil for their lamps for a week ate time because
they couldn't get it. If these conditions are not a heavier fax
on the people than paying for the construction of road,
then I am a bad judge and it had mathematician".
This statement is a strong argument against
had roads and shows one way in which good
roads would benefit a whole community.
Concrete Roads
eliminate the possibility of such conditions.
They are passable every day in the year and
perrnit heavier loads without straining horses
or breaking down waggons. They losver the
cost of hauling and the cost of living, at the
same time. They are best at first and cheapest
in the end, for they require practically no ex-
penditure for maintenance.

R. CHARLEY ODum, who is a farmer and
merchant on the Bonita road in Lauder-
dale County, Mississippi, which has not been
improved, plainly evidences his dissatisfaction
with the road conditions with which he has
to deal. Mr. Odum says:
"There has'nt been a time since the firtt of December that
I have been alle to get anything haided to my place from
Meridian, just four miles, for lest than 25 ewe per hundred.
In.the majority of instances it has cost me as high as 50 cents
and a good rnany time it has been impossible to get it at
any price. The people in my community have actually had
to go without oil for their lamps for a week ate time because
they couldn't get it. If these conditions are not a heavier fax
on the people than paying for the construction of road,
then I am a bad judge and it had mathematician".
This statement is a strong argument against
had roads and shows one way in which good
roads would benefit a whole community.
Concrete Roads
eliminate the possibility of such conditions.
They are passable every day in the year and
perrnit heavier loads without straining horses
or breaking down waggons. They losver the
cost of hauling and the cost of living, at the
same time. They are best at first and cheapest
in the end, for they require practically no ex-
penditure for maintenance.
