UNSEXED.
(By Berton Braley)
It doesn't unsex her to toil in a factory
Minding the looms from the dawn till
the night
To deal with a schoolful of children re-
fracrory
Doesn't unsex her in anyone's sight;
Work in a store where her back aches
inhumanly,
Doesn't unsex her at all, you will note
But think how exceedingly rough and
unwomanly
Woman would be if she happened to
vote.
To sweat in a laundry that's torrid and
torrider;
Doesn't subtract from her womanly
charm;
And scrubbing the floors in an echoing
corridor
Doesn't unsex her -so where is the
harm?
It does not unsex her to nurse us with
bravery,
Loosing death's hand from its grip on
the throat;
But, all! how the voices grow quivery,
quavery,
Wailing "Alas, 'twill unsex her to
vote."
She's feminine still when she juggles
the crockery.
Bringing you blithely the order you
give;
Toil in a sweatshop where life is a
mockery
Just for a pittance on which she ea.n
live --
That doesn't seera to unsex her a
particle,
"Labor is noble" so somebody wrote -
But ballots are known is a dangerous
article,
Woman's unsexed if you give her the
Vote.
Doubly Sold.
The newly appointed master at a
school had learned all about "cribbing"
and such little dodges as schoolboys
practise, and had not forgotten them.
One day during a lesson in history he
obseryt.d one of his pupils take out his
watch every minute or two. He grew
suspicions, thinking that the pupil was
consulting notes on the ler;On. Finaily
be strode slowly between the desks and
stopped in front of the boy. "Let me
tee your watch," he commanded.
"Yes, sir," was the meek reply.
The master opened the front of the
ease. He looked somewhat sheepish
when he read the Aingle word "Sold!"
Put he was a shrewd man. He was

not to be thrown off the scent so easily.
He opened the back of the ease. Then
he was satisfied, for he read: "Sold
again!"
Fine Maple Sugar and Syrup
In the days of crude sugar bush
methods there was little opportunity of
learning the difference between the in-
ferior dark products and those of fine
quality, but now consumers are learn-
ing to appreciate tha excellence of
superior goods and to accept no other
so long as these are available. This
appreciation is leadindto better returns
for those who produce the light colour,
fine flavored sugar and syrup.
The ur-to-date maple sugar maker
recognizes that sap, like milk, is a very
perishable product, being an excellent
medium for the development of fermen-
tative organisms. To make a fine
sugar or syrup it is necessary there-
fore, for the maker to have an equip-
ment which will allow for the least
possible contamination of the product
in all stages of manufacture. Not only
must thorough cleanliness be observed
but transformation of the sap to the
finished product must be direct and
speedy.
Bulletin No, 2B "Maple Sugar" is-
sued a few months ago by the Depart-
ment of Agriculture at Ottawa deals
fully with this subject and is therefore
useful to the consumer in making clear
what constitutes fine products and to
the producer in showing how such
goods are made.

be paid to the producers who produces quality.
We have a market for strictly Fresh Eggs that
has never yet been filled. Our cream wagons lift your
eggs and pay you cash. The cream is weighed at
your door, tested and paid for in Wingharn and sent
to the Silvorwood Creamery, London.

of comparing prices with you on the result of your
past produce business, it will pay you to have us ex-

Long Time
CREDIT
In last week's "Times" we referred to the fact
that out of $2,000 co which we had in our
uooks on January 2, 7914 we received less than
$200.00 although the month of January is
always considered as settlement month.
We have long considered "Credit" the
curse of the retail business, and our opinion
is now more than confirmed, and without the
slightest intention of 1), ing abrupt, we wish to
state plainly and emphaticilly that we do not
desire long credit, and in fact in future under
no consideration will we give credit for more
than THREE Months.
We will give a CASH DISCOUNT on
all kinds of Boots E....K1 Shoes, and in fact on
everything we handle excepting Queen Quality
Shoes, as on these 1,N e.have no option according
to agreement with the maker
Our Cash Prices will be exactly the same
as those asked or quoted in catalogues, and
it makes no difference what kind of Shoe it
is, we are prepared to meet the price.
Our Credit Price will be from 5 to to per
cent. more than the cash price and as stated
above we will in no case grant more than 3
month's' credit.
If you wish to succeed in the world get the
habit of paying cash. You will be surprised by
the end of the year how much more satisfictory
it is not only for yourself but for the other
fellow also.
All 1913 accounts are now long past due
and without any "ifs" or "ands" about it
