At the Dec. 16 Lucknow and District Joint
Recreation Board, Bob Zubel, the facilities
manager/recreation coordinator, told the
board that he has contacted Spriet &
Associates about the second floor arena
addition.
Engineer Kevin Mcllmurray has indicated
that he will be sending someone out to meas-
ure the existing building at the beginning of
the new year. Mcllmurray will then prepare
the contract documents for tendering at the
end'of February 2010.

tions from both the
county and Huron
East were dismissed
by board trustees.
Coun. Joseph Seili
(Huron East) says it
would make More
sense for the board
to look at closing a
high school rather
than negatively
imps the coun-
ty's villages by dos-
ing their oily pubic
schools.
"We're looking at
drafting a motion
that way," he says.
While Robertson
suggests writing a

board to discuss the
county and Huron
East's resolutions,
Coun. Deb Shewfelt
(Goderich) says the
mendations to install a CO2 detector in the
Olympia Room. The CO2 detector was pur-
chased and installed the following day.
Schmidt also inspected both food prepara-
tion areas and made a recommendation to
put a thermometer in the cooler upstairs and
to also purchase chlorine strips for the con-
cession booth cleaning products to ensure
proper dilution. The chlorine strips have
been ordered and the thermometer will be
installed before the next rental of the unit
takes place.
Ministry of Labour inspecdion
Occupational and health . and safety
inspector Kevin DeNeve paid a surprise visit
to the arena. DeNeve notified the arena staff
that the Ministry of Labour (MOL) is con-
ducting a Safety Blitz regarding slips, trips,
and falls in the workplace. DeNeve did his
inspection and issued six orders that need to
be complied with.
The orders are: Arena needs to have a
health and safety representative.
- Safety representative should inspect
building once a month with approved MOL
checklist.
- Annual review of health and safety is
rewired (signed and dated).
- WHIMS training certificates required for
atena staff.
- Eye wash station for chemical mom.
- Shoe grippers for arena staff required for
walking on the ice surface. •
Zubel said everything has been made up to
date and ispow compliant with MOL Stan-
dards and requirements. .

Seili, however,
notes the Bluewater

change is possible if
