Engineer Kevin Mcllmurray has indicated that he will be sending someone out to meas- ure the existing building at the beginning of the new year. Mcllmurray will then prepare the contract documents for tendering at the end'of February 2010. Air quality inspection The Grey Bruce ,Public Health inspector James Schmidt visited the Lucknow and District Sports Complex on Nov. 25 to per- form an air quality inspection. Coun. George Robertson . (South' Huron) first addressed the issue at the county's Dec. 15 committee -of - the -whole session alt noting resolu- tions from both the county and Huron East were dismissed by board trustees. Coun. Joseph Seili (Huron East) says it would make More sense for the board to look at closing a high school rather than negatively imps the coun- ty's villages by dos- ing their oily pubic schools. "We're looking at drafting a motion that way," he says. While Robertson suggests writing a .letter asking the board to discuss the county and Huron East's resolutions, Coun. Deb Shewfelt (Goderich) says the mendations to install a CO2 detector in the Olympia Room. The CO2 detector was pur- chased and installed the following day. Schmidt also inspected both food prepara- tion areas and made a recommendation to put a thermometer in the cooler upstairs and to also purchase chlorine strips for the con- cession booth cleaning products to ensure proper dilution. The chlorine strips have been ordered and the thermometer will be installed before the next rental of the unit takes place. Ministry of Labour inspecdion Occupational and health . and safety inspector Kevin DeNeve paid a surprise visit to the arena. DeNeve notified the arena staff that the Ministry of Labour (MOL) is con- ducting a Safety Blitz regarding slips, trips, and falls in the workplace. DeNeve did his inspection and issued six orders that need to be complied with. The orders are: Arena needs to have a health and safety representative. - Safety representative should inspect building once a month with approved MOL checklist. - Annual review of health and safety is rewired (signed and dated). - WHIMS training certificates required for atena staff. - Eye wash station for chemical mom. - Shoe grippers for arena staff required for walking on the ice surface. • Zubel said everything has been made up to date and ispow compliant with MOL Stan- dards and requirements. . Atom Rep team The Recreation Board passed a motion to give the Lucknow Atom Rep team $200 to go towards the $700 needed to get into the International Silver Stick tournament taking place in forest this January, have voice heard by school boar board's hands are likely tied since the province's peer -stu- dent funding fonnu la is mandating change.
