e starting point of the analysis is the 1982 crash sta-
tistics. According to Transport Canada, there
were 4,169 fatalities on Canadian roads in that year.
The Traffic Injury Research Foundation has
estimated that 60% of the fatalities were alcohol-relat-
ed (2,501), and that 40% (1,668) were non -
alcohol crashes. Dr. Fell's approach assumes that if
there were no declines in alcohol-related
fatalities, this 60/40 ratio would remain constant.
Using the number of non -alcohol crash fatalities as
the base, we calculated= the number of fatalities that
would have occurred had the 60/40 ratio remained
constant. The difference between this figure and the
actual number of traffic fatalities provides an estimate
of the number of lives saved due to the reduction in
alcohol-related fatalities.

The house was silent all the kids
dancein their beds. The clock strikes 6
o'clock and Emily jumps out of bed
and says in her head I love Christmas!
I ran down the hall like a small jack
rabbit. I jumped on Megan and said
wake up, wake up. It has finally come,
Christmas is here and Santa is gone.
All of our presents are here. Lets go get
Mommy. Okay says Megan. She
jumps out of bed and says wake up
wake up. I will start the coffee machine
if you get up Emily said. Mom agreed
and hopped out of bed. We all said lets
now go get daddy and we did. Megan
said get up sleepy head you can sleep
later. We have presents waiting for
Daddy, Mommy, Megan and me.' Let's
go. Then we went downstairs and
opened each and every one of them.
Then we went to Grams to play with
our toys and had a wonderful time.
This is special because I got my
Nintendo DS.

On: Dec. 25; 2007 at 8 a.m., I ran
downstairs and got my three sisters up.
Ithen went back upstairs to get my
mom and dad. When they finally woke
up we went out to the living room and
started opening presents. The first one
was for all of us so. we tore through the
wrapping paper and saw a Nintendo
Wii. When everyone was done open-
ing their presents we were about to go
downstairs and put together "the . Wii
when my mom said we had one more
surprise sowe all went and sat on the
conch. `The first thing my mom gave us
was these little nbtes that told us what
to pack and to bring. Then she gave us
a sheet that said what we would be
doing. So then we had to guess where
we were going. We all guessed
Orlando, Florida. We found oul that we
were going to Florida and that we were
leaving on Dec. 27 with my grandma
and grandpa, my aunt and uncle and
my cousins. That . was the best
Christmas:ever!

My best Christmas memory was last
year • when everybody in . my family
came home for Christmas: Lola and
Gary flew home from British
Columbia, Larissa flew home too.
Tiffany drove home from London. All
my other brothers and, sisters Charlotte,
James, Brandon, Jay and George and
his family all come for Christmas din-
ner. Christmas is all about family. This
year we will have to make more mem-
ories without everybody there.

I woke up and went out by the
Christmas tree and there were a lot of
presents. I was so excited but every
Christmas morning my parents don't
get up on time. I always have to go
wake them up. But once we get to the
presents it is a lot of fun. I got a Wii and
some games for it and a hockey table,
PS2 games. After we were done at my
house, we went to my grandma's
house. My whole family was there
including my cousins, my aunt and
uncles. They all had presents for our
family and close friends. Then we went
home and tried all our new stuff.

The best Christmas day ever is when
I got to go see my Dad. It wasabout
three years ago. I was 7 -years -old. Dad
was living m Goderich and he bought
me so many gifts. One of my
favourites was the plastic hockey sticks
so we could play in the kitchen. Then
he made me go to Delta Motel. We ate
in the restaurant at the motel. We had
ham and I love ham. I had my favourite
cake vanilla. I love being with hiin but
I already told .nim that. No way I can
love him any more. So that isthebest
Christmas morning ever.

Grade 5/6 LCPS
It is Christmas. The time of year I
have waited for all year. I run down
through the hall to my dad's room
waking everyone up• By the time I
got to the living room my sister. Was
already there. She said for me to go:
wake upmymom SoIrunupthe"
stairs as fast as I can. "Mom" I
yelled "Get ' out of bed". As 1 ran
down the stairs asking if my mom
could open up her gifts =first. As she
opened up her first gift she let out a
big scream. I ask my mom can dad
open up his gifts now. So I: gave my
dad his first gift. He nipped, he was
so happy with his new fishing pole.
Ten minutes later he was done open-
ing up all of his gifts. It is my sister's
turn. My mom handed it her first
gift. All I could hear is the
BIGGEST SCREAM ever in my
life! The house is shaking. Thirty
minutes later she was done opening
up all of her gifts. It is my turn to
open my gifts. My dad had it. My
first gift. I open it up. I was so
happy. I got all of the gifts I wanted.
Sure I got a lot of gifts but the best
gift last year was all of my family
was there.
Due to size limitations the rest of
Christmas will be posted online.
