The WOAA Senior A tilt saw the Lancers come up on the short end as theytook the loss 5-2. Saugeen Shores started off the game quick and had a two goal lead inside of the first three minutes of the game. The slow start and early penalty trou- ble by the Lancers caused themto be down by two, but solid defence and strong goaltending kept the Winterhawks off the score board for the rest of the period. "The start of the game was tough. The first three minutes they score a couple of quick goals and that put us on our heels," said Lancers assis- tant coach Steve Murley. "Once that first eight or 10 minutes was out of the way we seemed to come back." The second peri- od saw Saugeen Shores have penalty trouble and a timely power .play goal by Rick . Andrew of the: Lancers got Lucknow back in the game. Saugeen Shores added a late goal in the second period to extend their lead to two goals. Going into the third period both teams played a lot of hockey in the neutral zone with shots being traded back and forth. It wasn't until mid- way through the period that Lucknow scored and was just one goal 'away from tying the game. Saugeen Shores didn't allow the come back to hap- pen as they poured on the pressure and scored twice tb put the game out of reach for the Lancers. "We still aren't as strong as we can be on the puck and when we are dominating in a game,. sometimes we give up the odd goal because of it," said Murley. "Staying out of the penalty box at key times is something we'll have to keep • Photo by Garit Reid Lancers foiward Brad Burton raises his arms as Rick Andrew scored the first goal of the game for Lucknow in the second peri- od.The Lancers were on the heels of Saugeen Shores fbr a major- ity of the game, but couldn't catch up as they took the loss by a score of S - 2.
