The Lucknow Sentinel Team Pat Livingston Published Weekly - 619 Campbell Street, Lucknow 'KMV.►'.. -010.11 'Lill, WOO,. ,6•1••- .,.-i UN MEDIA A Quebecor Media Company Whenit w 1 the Leafs Before the season started Brian Burke said the Toronto Maple. Leafs were going to be a team bound for the playoffs. It's only 22 games into the sea- son and that doesn't seem likely. You wouldn't think that would be cause for concern, that any team can make those games up, but they have only won a handful of games so far. They need a miracle Ithink. for them to make the post season. I am . a die hard. fan of the Leafs and I won't stop because they are losing, but it will be nice when tliey do get out of the cellar and into play- off contention. • I will have to admit they have been exciting to watch this year compared to the past four seasons. I don't know what it is this year, but they seem to have moments of complete domina- tion over teams with tons of shots, just not enough goals to show fon Last week was one of those games of domination against the New York make theY p la f ? ofs Islanders. The Leafs poured on 58 shots in regul tion, but dropped the game 4 - 3 in = overtime. Islanders goalie Dwayne Roloson stole the game from the Leafs by standing on his head, but it was a glimmer of hope that the leafs have the ability to control games. Hopefully the Leafs can use whatever they did in that .gale and apply :it to the rest of the season, they might be able to put a few more games in the win column. It still is frustrating to watch the losses pile up, but there have been sparks of hope in the likes of Phil Kessel and Tomas . Kaberle who have been lighting it up recently with both goals and assists. i• still have faith that the Leafs will be respectable by season end even if they don't make the playoffs for the fifth straight year. They. need some- one to compliment Kessel and if it's not a current Leaf,: Burke will have to make a big trade or free up some cap room and sign • a big name play- er.
