Len Robinson, of
Belgrave, was the lucky
winner of a Kubota toy
riding tractor at CA
Becker Equipment Ltd. in
Lucknow. Each Kubota
dealer had one of the
riding tractors to give
away as part of Kubota
Canada's Grand Fall Sale
Promotion. Winners at
each dealership were put
in a Canada -wide draw
for a Kubota RTV, with
an Alberta man being
that lucky winner.

BY GARIT REID
Sentinel Staff
The Vancouver 2010
Olympic Torch Relay will
be passing. through
Kincardine on Dec. 28, Day
60 of its trek across Canada
and no one is more excited
about it then Lucknow
native Margie MacPherson,
who will be carrying the
torch for part of this leg of
the run.
MacPherson will carry
the torch at around. 4 p.m.
for 300 metres start along
Russell Street from Huron
Heights Public School to
Scott Street.
Being part of athletics
and supporting its pursuit
has always been something
MacPherson has strived to
be a part of, throughout her
life. She feels athletics and
sport is a big part of what
makes a community. great. -
"I've always been very
sports -oriented. I've always
worked with sports and it
has been a big part ofmy
life in any place that I've
lived," said MacPherson.
"When I lived out west 1
coached in many sports.
Being a part of the
Olympics, in any way, will
be a privilege and an awe-
some experience."
MacPherson nominated
herself through the iCoke
contest back in March and
later that month she was
notified that she had been
selected as a round one
sweepstakes prizewinner
and then prompted to write
an essay for round two of
the competition.
MacPherson didn't find out
that she had been selected
as a torchbearer until
August and it wasn't official
until early November. It
was a long process, but
MacPherson is excited to be
part of the relay team.
"I flunk it's going be a lot
of fun, a once in a lifetime
opportunity," said
MacPherson. "I'd love to be
able to go to the actual
•
olympics, but this will be a
great experience."
MacPherson has been
doing her part to prepare
herself for the walk by get-
ting in as much training as
she can do. She is also
excited to have her family
and her coworkers from the
Kincardine Golf Club there
to support her every step of
the relay.
"I'rn out walking every
night and most . mornings,
whenever I can get out,"
said .MacPherson. "I work
at the Kincardine golf
course as well and hopeful-
ly a lot of the members and
employees come out to sup-
port me."
There has been a lot of
support for MacPherson in
Lucknow as well as the Cut
and Curl has a window dis-
play in support of
MacPherson's big day : and
she said it's. going to be a
thrill to represent the area
walk with the torch in sup-
port of Vancouver 2010.
