Lucknow Silver Stick entering fifth year BY GARrr REID Sentinel Staff For Bob Gunter, the chair of the Lucknow Silver Stick committee, he can't believe that it has already been five years since the tournament began. For Gunter and the rest of his committee it has been a great experience and it's only getting better. The Silver Stick juvenile tournament will be back in Lucknow from Dec. 3 to b and Gunter and his committee will be doing a few special things to commemorate the fifth anniversary. There will be a free draw for players involved in the tour- nament to win a Paul Henderson autographed 1972 Summit : Series sweater. Gunter said one of the new and exciting things they are doing for this year is giv- ing away a Paul Henderson signed plaque of the famous . Lucknow mural to the MVPs of each game instead of the sticks that have been given out in the past. Gunter said the play- ers would be getting a piece of Henderson: and of Lucknow to take home with them. For Gunter and his committee the fifth year is a great milestone, but the important part of the tournament is the hockey and all of the teams that come to participate in it "I'ni expecting it to be really competi- tive hockey and by the looks of the teams involved I think every game will come down to the wire," said Gunter. For the first time since the toumament began, Paul Henderson won't be able to make the weekend as he has prior commitments, but even though he won't be able to make it his wife Eleanor will be there. Eleanor and Paul have been great supporters of the tournament since its inception. "Paul Henderson is the only NHL with two games, one of the games involv- ing the Lucknow Juvenile team at 9 p.m. versus Mildmay. The Offi- cial opening cere- monies take place on Friday at ' the Lucknow and District Sports Complex at 7:30 p.m. with Eleanor Henderson present to drop the puck.
