Music in the Fields co-
chairs Rick McMurray and
Ken Irwin spoke to Huron -
Kinloss council on Nov. 16
outlining highlights of the
Aug. 22 country music
show, . and requested the
township's support for next
year's event.
McMurray said more
than 4,000 people attended
the show, and three of the
music acts went on to
receive Canadian Country
Music Association awards.
"It showcased our com-
mun ity in a positive light
and we earned a good rep-
utation with the agents and
artists," said McMurray.
The income and expens-
es were more than
$540,000, said McMurray,
and the Kinsmen • saw a
minimal ,financial loss.
In planning for Next
year's event, the Kinsmen
are happy that their logo
has been branded and they
have a website at
www.musicinthefields.ca
where people can check
out highlights from this
year's show and find out
about next year's event.
They are also looking for
sponsorship and, with the
help of TNR Productions,
have turned out a promo-
tional package which
includes video footage
from this year's concerts.
"We need large spon-
sors, including a title spon-
sor inorder to keep this
going," said McMurray.
Irwin said the Kinsmen
did a critique of this year's
event and came up with
some ideas they may
change to make things bet-
ter for 2010.
