Sacrifice was big part
of Second World War
From page 1
I still remember a bunch of
the names that went through
my wing and a lot of them
didn't come ,back, of course
that was .part of the war."
War time is uncompromis-
ing .at "periods, but Wylds
also had some good memo-
ries of ,the men n he served
with while he was training
and in London._ Wylds said
having fun was a good _ way
to take your minds off
friends overseas and a good
way to keep the morale up
for many of the service men
and women. There was also a
sense of being part of a
brotherhood anywhere
Wylds went during his serv-
ice.
"There was comradeship
and we looked out for each
other in the service and _ we
always had a bit of fun at the
canteen of course," said
Wylds. "We always had a lot
of good clean fun."
After the war and being
discharged from service,
Wylds bought 50 acres of
land and farmed at the corner
of the Ripley road and
Highway 86. They sold that
land and bought.a 150 acres
in Ashfield Township.
Wylds also worked at
Champion Road Machinery
in Goderich from. 1968
1988 while also farming.
Wylds farmed right up to
1998 before moving into a
house- on Inglis St. in
• Lucknow with his wife June.
Warren and his wife June
raised two boys and two girls
and are grateful for that.
They also have three grand-
children and five great,
grandchildren.
Wylds said his family,
work and his service have
shaped the person he is today
and appreciates everything
life has given to him.
