Christmas House Tour coming to Lucknow
The Lucknow and District
Chamber of Commerce (COC) is
getting into the holiday spirit as the
COC are sponsoring a Christmas
House Tour that will showcase some
of the historical homes and business-
es in Lucknow.
The event nuns Saturday, Nov. 7
from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday,
Nov. 8 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The (TOC contacted the home-
owners and business owners and the
places selected were decorated with
help from individuals and business-
es like Everlastings Flowers and
Gifts, Studio C, Lucknow
Pharmasave, Hodgins. Home
Hardware and Sommerville Covert
with everything raisedsgoing back to.
the COC.
Chamber of Commerce promo-
tions chair Shirley Lewis knows it's
a great idea for Lucknow because it
gives back to the community and it
.gives everyone that Cliistinas spirit,
"The money goes directly to the
Chamber of Commerce which ' is
good because we can use : it for
things like the beautification of the
town, said Lewis. "It showcases the
business' products, which is a bene-
fit to us and at the same time it gives
everyone a good Christmas feel."
The home of Dominique and
Terry Stanley is one of the home
being shown. It's a one storey brick
bungalow that overlooks the soccer
fields and features and open concept
with lots of windows. It has three
bedrooms and a fireplace. It was also
a model home at the International
Plowing Match in the 1990s. It's
decorated by Hodgins Home
Hardware.
Another place being shown is the
home of Greg and Wilma Blake. It's
a two storey home built in the 1930s.
It features lots of natural warm
woodwork an interesting floor plan
and architectural surprises. It is dec-
orated by Lucknow Phamiasave..
Sommeiville court B &Bis one
of the businesses being shown. The
historic building was built in 1880
by James Sommerville, one of the
founding members of Lucknow.
Since 2003, Brenda Cathers has
it as an eight room bed and
breakfast. Major renovations and
restorations have been done to the
building to recreate the turn of the
century look.
The home of Rod and Joanne
Mc is anotherone of the
homes being shown. The two storey,
four bedroom brick home was built
in 1989. The rooms are enhanced by
the view of the wooded area along
the Nine Mile River bank to the
west. The home is decorated by
Everlastings Flowers and Gifts.
Studio C Salon and Spa and
Studio C Music School, the building
being the oldest home in Lucknow
and was built back around 1850 is
being show in the tour. The design is
English georgian and the construc-
tion is hand-hewn cedar beams with
mortise and tenon joints. K:arissa and
Scott Chow purchased the home in
October of 2008 and turned it into
Studio C Salon and Spa. Studio C
was decorated by its owners Karissa
and Scott to showcase their business.
Another place being shown is
Finlayson's Village Dining and
Drink Owners Jonathan and Joan
Ne1s►on cordially invite all of the
tourgoers to enjoy a complimentary
cup of phot apple cider or hot choco-
late and enjoy the Christmas atmos-
phere. ribere will also be a chance to
win a door prize by ` dropping in
one's ticket hi the draw box.

regarding` the HINT flu and other
viruses in the area this winter,.
Zubel recommended the
Lucknow ` and . District Sports
Complex should take the neces-
sary steps and purchase hand san-
itizers to be installed outside the
bathrooms and concession booth
areas in order to prevent or limit
the spread. of the illnesses. Hand
washing information signsr have
already been posted in the wash-
rooms to inform the public the
importance of this growing con-
cern.
Addition update
Mark Becker, the clerk/treasur-
er for the Rec Board, provided the
board with a revised set of plans
as a follow-up from the public
meeting held on Sept. 23. Becker
