2009 has been a very busy year for Rev'n 11
2009 has been a very busy season for the Port
Albert Rev'n in 11 committee and they promise not
to let anyone down with great events coming over the
next two years. The next fundraising event is one that
everyone on the committee is very excited about. It
will be held at Saltford Valley Hall, Oct. 23, 8 p.m. to
1 p.m. The evening will start with appetizers being
served and entertainment provided by local artists.
At 9 p.m. the multi -talented Cliff Erickson from
Port Huron will entertain with songs, jokes and sto-
ries. The evening will end with local musicians
Benson Brown, Bud Mabon, Jenna Ujiye, Ashley
Anderson, Sarah Koopmans and Jamie Wallace.
"We wanted to make sure that local talent and food is
part of our fund raising," said Mark Ryan, Rev'n in
11 co-chair. "Most of the musicians have a close tie
to the Port Albert area."
Cliff Erickson has had a sustaining ' entertaining
career for over 30 years. He has traveled as a solo
performer from his hometown of Port Huron,
Michigan to venues all over the world.
"One of our committee members attended one of
Erickson's concerts," said Ryan. "They said he was a
extremely funny and a major crowd pleaser."
Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the
Port Albert Store, Dauphin Feed and Supply Ltd.,
Thompsons Feed Ltd., West Wawanosh Mutual Ins.
Co., Sears in Goderich and Shear Design in
Lucknow. It is suggested that you get your tickets
early so as not to miss out on what promises to be a
fun evening:
"At our dance in the spring we sold out before
tickets were even at the vendors," said Ryan. "Make
sure you get your ticket soon, so that you don't miss _
out on this night of food and music." The comittee
is planning to run more events in 2010, including a
dance in March.
Port Albert is working towards its goal of raising
funds for the 175th celebration to be held in 2011.
The ultimate purpose of the celebration is to raise
enough money in 2011 to make a positive impact on
the community in general, but most importantly to
provide recreational facilities for the young people in
our area.
"At our last celebration, enough funds were ,raised
to do various upkeep and, improvements in our vil-
lage," said Ryan.
The Port Albert & Area Recreational Society Inc.
was formed in 1987 and administered the money
over the last 22 years. The Rev'n in 11 committee is
a part of the Recreational Society and the funds left
over from the 1986 celebration has provided the
committee with some seed money to get things
rolling for 2011.
