CKNX Radiothon raises over a half million

Care Heroes
Radiothon Climbs
Over a Half Million
Saturday
For eight hours
on Saturday, health
care took centre
stage for 15 com-
munities in
Midwestern
Ontario.
Community vol-
unteers came
together in
Wingham to
answer phones as
people called in
with their pledges.
But the fundrais-
ing stretched
beyond the studios
of AM 920 CKNX,
101.7 The One and
94.5 The Bull.
Various fundrais-
ers took ' part
throughout the day
and included barbe-
cues, walks, break-
fasts and more.
The Wingham
-id District
Hospital
Foundation raised
$75,044 for a
Digital Pediatric
Colonoscope and a
Gastroscope.
And the drive got
a boost from the
Lucknow Fall Fair
Ambassador Emma
Hackett.
"Fm co-oping at
the hospital right
now and I'm inter-
ested in going into
. the health care Meld
and it just seemed
like a good option
for me," said
Hackett. "I've had
to deal with travel -
ling to the city for
family health issues
and it's just nice to
know that people
around here are try-
ing to change that."
During the
ambassador com-
petition Hackett
chose the CKNX
Health Care Heroes
Radiothon as the
charity to speak
about.
