Paul and Cheryl
Bannister of
Lucknow have
always had a love
of animals, espe-
cially dogs and
over the years they
have done their
best to find homes
for the various
dogs they have
taken in.
Their latest
refuge is an all
black chihuahua,
named Bella, who
the Bannisters took
in after it suffered a
broken leg and a
misplaced hip.
They took it to the
veterinarian and.
the broken leg is
fine now and the
hip is in decent
condition
However, the hip

The Bannisters,
for now, have given
the dog a good
home and kept her
well fed. 'They
hope to find a
home for the dog
soon. Over the past
five years the cou-
ple has helped five
dogs find homes
and they have
taken in three dogs
of their own.
"Every time 1 see
a dog in need or is
locked up,, I feel
guilty and take it
home," said Paul
Bannister. s "It's
very important to
help the local dog
population because
every door 'Pet
deserves a home.

Paul and Cheryl
would like to one
day' move to a
farm, where they
can take care of
*more dogs: The
Bannisters would
hke to "find as inimy
good homes for
stray and abused
dogs as they can.
"We'd like to
help as many pets
as we can, like pet
rescue does," said
Paul : Bannister.
"The dogs could
run around on : a
farm and it would
be a better atmos-
phere for them
there,"
As for Bella, the
Bannisters will. be
looking for a _good
home with a calm
setting for her. Paul
Bannister's mother
has a love for ani-
mals as well and
when they can't
find. a local place
for the dogs they
take m, they some-
times send them to
his mother
Montreal, to find a
home for them.:
"Bella doesn't
seem to be in too
much pain any-
more and can jump
up and down," said
Cheryl Bannister.
"She's coming
along : in a positive
way."
For now, the
Bannisters will

after their dogs.
Having a love for
animas will help
them in : their path
to finding a good
home for. every : dog
