Peak oil is the result of our heavy use of fossil fuels. The situation is that world supplies are peaking and starting to decline. Rick Munroe will provide a concise overview of the most recent world energy out- look and the recent warn- ings about export decline and a near-term oil sup- ply crunch. He will then explore the need for effective plans to deal with fuel ' emergencies with a special focus on - the farm community A T new . farmer panel -will talk . about their experience ,s starting farming including the joys and challenges. They will also speak about resources for beginning farmers and some of the incubator projects that are helping new farmers get started. New farmers are a source of new energy for farm communities and bring new enthusiasm to farms. The farmers forum planned for the end of the day, will allow EFAO members and visitors to discuss how individual farms are preparing for peak oil. They will also explore action to take, collectively to buffer rural areas and farmers from the economic and • social inipacts of peak oil. There will also be a short annual meeting when the south west rep- resentatives to the Ontario EFAO board will be elected as well as the members of the local committee for 2010. The meeting is being held at the Bloomingdale Community Centre., Woolwich. (519) 741- 9671. It takes place on, Saturday, Nov. 7 and will include a potluck lunch. In keeping with the energy theme the EFAO plans to encourage car pooling.
