Annual Terry Fox Run looking for participants of all ages

Lucknow and
area residents will
once again be hon-
ouring a heroic
Canadian's legacy
by participating in
the upcoming
Terry Fox Run.
This year's Terry
Fox Run will be.
held in Lucknow
on Sunday, Sept.
13. Over the past
five years,
$24,351.83 has
been raised for the
Terry Fox
Foundation and to
help find a cure for
Cancer. That's why
event organizer
Steve Chamney is
always looking to
increase the num-
ber of participants
in the run each
year.

Chamney. "We
need to find a
cure."
Chamney said he
hopes to have
many participants
for this year's
event that will be
starting at the
Lucknow Tourism
Office and start
from 10: a.m. to 12
p.m., as it will
mark the sixth
annual Terry. Fox
Run in Lucknow.
The Lucknow
event will include
a 5km and 10km
course and partici-
pants can walk,
run, rollerblade or
bike.
Six years ago,
Chamney . said he
decided to start a
Terry Fox Run in
Lucknow after
talking with a co---
worker who organ-
ized a run in
Brussels. After that
Chamney -said he
approached Dale
Lougheed and Ken
Irwin, of Lucknow,
to help and with
the financial sup=
port . of the
Lucknow. kinsmen

way.
"So many people
say they don't
know if they can
make the distance,
but it's not about
the competition of
the run and who
finishes first," said
Chamney, "It's

cure for cancer and
the awareness it
brings.
