Closest -to -pin on num- ber 11 was Art Helm and on number 13 was Bob Parks. Hidden team winners were Dave Evans, John Gross, Andy Sande and Bob Ogilvie. BlackHorse ladies golf results On a lovely Wednesday afternoon the BlackHorse ladies played regular golf and secret partners were drawn. Michelle Scarborough and Eleanor Roppel won first place. There was a tie for second and the winners were Diane Leslie and Betty Stanley; Pauline Pegg and Rosalie Zettler. Next week the BlackHorse ladies will be playing on Thursday as the Owen Sound District is being held at BlackHorse. Don't forget to sign up at the clubhouse for . our 1 member guest on Sept. 2 BlackHorse senior Mixed seniors on Aug. 10 was nine holes played on the Stableford scoring system with handicap in a team format. The first place team consisted of Gladys Hamilton, Barry McDonagh, Allan Hackett and John Gross. High points went to Gladys Hamilton (24) for the ladies, and for the men John Gross - and Richard Papinea i (22). Longest putt on number: 15 went to Gladys Hamilton and Don Bone, and closest -to -the -pt on number 13 was Richard Papineau with a very loud Yah000! Low gross for the ladies was Gladys Hamilton (46) and for the men, ' a three-way tie with Wayne . Farrell, John Gross and Don Bone (38). ` Did anyone notice Gladys' name coming up four times? Good work Gladys...that makes six: times. Senior men on Aug. 10 was 18 holes on the Stableford scoring system from the blue tees. The low net winning team was ' Richard Papineau, Dave ' Evans and yours truly, Glen Matthews (net 57). High points went to Don Bone (43). Closest - to -the -hole on the second shot on number one went to Richard Papineau. Closest -to -the -hole' on number six. and again. on number 17 was Al Bowers. T The longest putt =►r nu mbe c ..14 was George Armstrong. Wingham golf course in great s The weather finally turnedhot but with the heat came the rain at the Wingham, Golf and Curling . Club. The good news, the grounds keep- ers needed the wet days to get the course back in great shape. Many. members and visitors have made com- ments on the good play- ing conditions of the fair- ways and greens. The Tuesday ladies (Aug. 11) had a beautiful golf day after the threat of rain in the morning. Twenty of came out and enjoyed the golf and many ate and socialized on the patio. . The Aug. 12 morning senior men had 23 golfers. The winners were first, Ken Saxton; second, Doug Neil and third, Ed Daer. Doug and Ed tied for low gross with 37. Lloyd. Lamont fin- ished his day with a big birdie on number nine. Congratulations Lloyd. The second round of the men's match play was completed. Thewinners were Harry George, Clayt Ruppel; John Tyrell, Bob Gavreluk, Gerry Edwards, Doug Neil, Lorne Millen and Bruce Skinn: Next round to be completed by. Aug. 27. Thursday, Aug. 13 the weather man gave us some of that heat we have been waiting for and the golfers came out in record numbers. Buff's men's night had 53 golfers. The winners were Trevor Beck, closest to the pin John Dailleboust, Lorne Millen and Jay Marston and longest putts Richard Watson and Bill Robinson. Hidden score went to Bill Deans and Trevor Hopf and low gross with a 34 went to Robinson and Fred Urbshot. Friday, Aug. 14 Terry Anger put on -another jun- ior clinic for the 6 - 12 year olds. Winner of the putting contest was Brad Pewtress. Terry is busy teaching the boys and girls the basic skills : and proper golf etiquette and has a real good group of golfers. Another session is available this Aug..21. The sign up sheet for the John Malick Memorial Tournament on Sept. 9 is available at the pro shop or call 519-357- 2179. OUT OF BOUNDS NEWS After . Dec. 31 the Wingham Golf and . Curling Club will not be accepting any VIP passes to golf from Turning Point. The contract has been terminated, any passes bought after Aug. 16 are not valid.
