When Johnny Reid
decided to name his new
record Dance With Me, it
was as much an invitation
to his fans to get up and
dance as it was a call to
celebrate ` the things that
bring you home, even if
home is thousands of
miles away.
Johnny Reid's Dance
With Me was certified
platinum, just eight: weeks
after its March 10 release.
Dance With .Me has
remained in the top three
on the Canadian Crotutry
Sales Chart, spending
three consecutive weeks at
number one after the
album's debut,
to Nielsen SoundScan.
Dance . With Me also
remained in the top -10 on.
the Top 200 Sales Chart
for six consecutive ,weeks
after the album's release.
Over the past two years,
Reid's 2007 sophomore
effort, Kicking Stones, has
been kicking butt.
Certified platinum in
Canada, it has garnered
the Scottish born
Canadian singer/song-
writer CCMA's for top-
selling Canadian record-
ing and top male artist in
2008, as well as a Juno
nomination for country
recording of the year. It's
also gone a long way to
establishing Reid . as an
undeniably bright star in
Canadian country music,
yielding two top ten radio
singles in "Love Sweet
Love" and "Kicking
Stone" and the sway
hit, "Darn " , which .
sailed into both the top
five at radio and the num-
ber one spot on CMT last
year..
•
In 2008 Reid'racked up
over ' 120 shows and his
fans - his 'lama n Arany
have packed' them all;
singing every word and
connecting with him on
what he feels is a whole
new level.
"It's been agreat year
Unbelievable and ` hum-
bling,
um-
b ling, to have :so Many
people not only :buy the
record but show up to the
concerts," said Reid.`
On Dance With Me,
Reid retums the favour,
speaking directly to the
front row with songs like
"Hey -O". Telling his
crowd to "Look to your
left. Look to your ;right.
Everybody here is a friend
tonight."
"The big thing with this
record was that I wanted it
to be danceable. I wanted
for people to get up in
their living room, or at the
bars, or at the concert hall
and dance," said Reid.
Regardless of whether
you're an old. fan or new,
Dance With Me is a
teminder to make room
for those : people and to
treasureihe meatories that
canbring us all home.
when we most need t ein
to.

Reapers Slo-Pitch team are off to nationals in
Niagara Falls. .:
The team play in the local Lucknow men's league

Last September the team won the provincials to
advance to the nationals this summer.
Originally the team were to travel to
Newfoundland, but because of the team 's<impressire
record, they were bumped up from the E to D divi-
sion.
The boys will play two games on Friday and
Saturday to begin the tournament and after that it
will depend on their record.
Good luck boys "Let's get er done!'
BlackHorse Minced seniors and ladies golf results
Mixed seniors
Mixed Seniors on July 20 was another nice weath-
er day. We haven't had too many of them have we?
Marge Heimpel was the top lady with 21 points on.
the Stableford scoring system,. with Dave Evans the
top man also with 23 points.
The winning team was Marge Heimpel, Stan
Grant, John Gross, and Wayne Farrell. The longest
putt on number four was Wayne Farrell and on num-
ber five was Tom Pegg. Barb Helm and friend
Joanne had their work cut out for them as they tried
to maintain some semblance of decorum when their
"A" player (Bruce Heimpel) didn't bring his "A"
game. Something about pulling up his socks was
heard echoing around BlackHorse...or was that
directed to me? I don't know if you noticed but
Marge Heimpel has won three times in the last four
weeks. Hubby Bruce was not available for comment!
There will be no Monday Mixed for the next two
weeks because next week is the Seniors Invitational

and the following week the long weekend
Monday. The next Mixed Seniors will be Aug. 10 at
9a.m
Senior Men played July 23 under overcast skies
but at least we were dry. John Wood was top dog
with his career game of . 85 gross and net . 62. Tom
Kennedy ' came in second with a 77 gross and net 64.
Can you imagine 82 years young and still shooting
77! Obviously he was doing more than picking pota-
toes back in Ireland. John Wood• was also closest to
the pin on number six and Wayne Farrell was clos-
est on number 13.
BlackHorse ladies
On a warm sunny afternoon on Wednesday July 22
at the BlackHorse golf club, 15 ladies enjoyed a
secret partner round of golf. Lowest score winners
were Chris Evans and Rita McHutchison. The high
score winners were Eleanor Roppel and Sue Telford,
Don't forget the next pin day will be Aug. 5.
