Sale at the Calgary
Stampede. There were
exhibitors from P.E.I. to
Vancouver Island. The ram
TODD H&J 43U was the
top selling individual in the
sale for $3000 to Second
Chance Livestock of
Alberta. The same ram was
named Supreme last year at
the Royal Winter .Fair as a
Iamb. In the photo are (left

asking all munici-
palities across
Ontario for support
in having giant
hogweed added to
the list of noxious
weeds on the
municipal[ level so
it can be removed
and `destroyed.
Council
approyed a resolu-
tion at their July 20
meeting to have the
province . designate
the Plant under the
Weed Control Act,
which would mean
immediate:. action
can be taken by the
weed inspector to
eradicate the giant
hogweed.
The plant can
cause serious
health problems for
people who come
into contact with
the sap, such as
blistering skin,
temporary or per-
manent blindness if
sap gets in contact
with one's eyes and
the blisters can
leave scars that can
last for. years.
Giant hogweed
has : been found in
numerous : agricul-
tural and fesiden-
tial locations
throughout the
township, mainly
-at Huron Heights
public school,.: Pine
River Boat Club
and there is a large
field of. , it on
Havelock St. in
Lucknow.
The plant is not a
danger to crops :of
animals so it poses
no : problem for the
agricultural indus-
try, but many resi-
dents have already
raised concerns
about the safety of
children and pets,

A resident is con-
cerned that Point
Clark is starting to

market with all .the
weekend yard
sales. In a .letter to
council, he said
many items,
including : furniture,
are set out : at the
end of driveways
and it's becoming
an : eyesore, espe
cially on Huron
Road. Council
agreed to have staff
check into the situ-
ation to see if it's
an: isolated incident
or a real problem.
