Buying fresh, local meat and and getting it to shoppers quick-
ly:Is key for store members In the Co-Opvative.
The nine -member group is riding the wave of local -food popularity -
the 100-milediet and knowing where food products come from, and
the co-op is a way of reacting to local demand and markets
in a more effective, efficient way.
Stores are buying local chicken, pork and beef. Produce will continue
to come from local venues like the Elmira Produce Market. The co-op
deals directly with area farmers and markets to get product to stores
quickly to maintain freshness.
The same idea is behkid
Terminal - product is deilveretback to the stores without warehous-
ing to ensure product freshness..
The staff at Knechtel Food Meat is excited about the change, and
and have lots of good things planned while maintaining the friendly
service and many popular features that have made the store a great
place to shop.
