Cameron said there's no
evidence right now that an
has changed : in : terms of the
seventy of the virus. In Ontario,
only a small number of people
have needed hospitalization.:
Most make a full recovery with-
out any complications.
Dr. Cameron to reduce the
says
risk of . spread of resPiratorY ill-
ness
.. .
people should:
- Wash hands frequently and
thoroughly. with . soap and hot
water or, if soap and water are
unavailable, use an alcohol-
based hand sanitizes:
Sneeze or cough into a sleeve
or arm.
- Stay. home if sick.
- Frequently clean :commonly
touched surfaces such as key-
boards, doorknobs, countertops
etc.
Symptoms for influenza are
similar: to those for seasonal flu:
headache, chills, cough, fever,
loss of appetite, muscle aches
and fatigue, runny nose, sneez-
ing, watery :eyes and throat irrita-
tion. Vomiting and diarrhea have
also been reported in some cases.
Influenza and several other
(severe) respiratory infections
art transmitted from person to
person through coughs and
sneezes that release droplets into
the air and onto surfaces. People
may become infected by breath-
ing in the germs or touching con-
taminated inated surfeces and not wash-
ing their hands afterwards.

Rosa Meriam is the first high school student in Ontario to earn an exemption for taking a level 1 general car-
penter's exam through Conestoga College. This was made possible because of the alignment of grade 11 and
12 construction technology curriculum and college level 1 carpentry curriculum. Rosa is a graduate of
Madill's Construction High Skills .Major program and is currently apprenticing with John Hickey
Construction. Congratulations Rosa. She has made her family proud. Rosa is the daughter of Sug and Donna
Meriam of Ashfield Township. Pictured above is Rosa Meriam shaking hands: with Andras Balotis from.
Conestoga College (right) and Mr. McKague from FE Madill (left) after passing the Carpentry level 1 exemp-
tion exam.
