HomeMy WebLinkAboutLucknow Sentinel, 2009-07-01, Page 6Is it true that dads are cooler than moms?
Everyone thinks that moms are better than dads.
Hallmark plays a big part in this. The truth is that dads
are way cooler than moms and I can briefly outline
why.
If a boy wanted to twirl around on a tire swing
and his mom was there, she would:
1. Caution him against it
2. Stand beside him as he does it to comfort
him in case he gets hurt
If it was just the boy and his dad, the dad would:
1. Dare him to go as fast as he could
2. Bet him that he's going to toss his
cookies all over the lawn
3. High five him when be does
Dads do not want to protect their kids
from harm. Dads want to help their kids
Build Character. To most moms, it appears that they
(the dads) are trying to kill their children. This is probs.
ably not true in most cases.
Another character -building exercise is to constantly
assure their kids that they'll be "alright" The great dads
in history actually gave good reasons (sometimes wire-
searched) to help their kids better enjoy their discom-
fort:
Kid:
"Daddy, I can't find myteddy bear to kissgood-
night."
Great dad: "You'll be alright. Absence . makes the
heart grow fonder."
Kid: "Dad, Ben peed in the bathtub just as I was get -
tin "
g in.
Great dad: "You'll be alright. Pee gives your skin a
nice sheen."
Kid: "Dad, I drgpped my doughnut on the drive-
way."„
Great dad: "You'll be alright. It'll put hair on your
chest."
Sometimes, even mothers need a dad's calm
reassurance in order to make it through the day:
Worried mom: "Honey, I think the sandwich
meat that 1 put in the kids' lunches is going bad."
Great dad: "'They'll be alright. It'll clean 'ern
right out."
Nothing makes a dad prouder than
when the kids start picking up on it:
Great dad: "How was school today,
son?"
Son: "It was awesome. 1 fell in the
gravel and shredded my knee!"
Great dad: "Cool!„
Son: "I know! I may never walk again but I know I'm
gonna have a sick scar from that one!"
Great dad: "Lucky!" Dads are also cool because they never let their kids
get the best of them, like certain other parents I could
mention:
Mom `Honestly son, you are going to give me a
heart attack y. .

belly? Your older brother' is In there.
Son: "1 don't have an older brother.'
