Bible study group
meets in Lucknow
The Purple Grove Bible
Study group met at Nina
Bushell's in Lucknow last
Tuesday morning. Afterwards
they enjoyed lunch at the bake
shop.
Tuesday afternoon Bette
MacLeod went with other folks
to the garden party at
Brookside, hosted by Trinity
UCW. On Wednesday she
went to the hospital retirees
luncheon at Carmel's in
Tiverton.
Unit three of St. Andrew's
UCW had their June meeting
at Diane Simpson's cottage on
Tuesday evening. A delicious
potluck supper was enjoyed
and each member contributed
a part of the program.
The 4-H Teddy Bear Club
met for their third meeting of
the year on Thursday evening.
Cousins Joyce McEwan and
Mary Anne Kukoly enjoyed a
day together on Thursday.
Friday evening Mary Anne
stayed overnight with her
cousin Shirley Gilders and. Ray
in Clinton. On her way home -
she visited with Joyce and John
Farrell. Saturday evening
Mary Anne attended the Jack
and Jill shower for Luke Allen
and his bride-to-be Annie
Matheson in Kincardine.
Sunday evening Mary Black
and Donna Swan visited with
Mary Anne.
What a crazy year weather-
wise. Last week was the awful
wind storm that did a lot of
damage and now folks are hay-
ing and still trying to get crops
planted.
Ian and Holly MacDonald
from Lethbridge, Alberta were
home on the weekend with
Doug and Shirley MacDonald,
of Ripley. Doug and Shirley
were guests at the wedding of
Bryce Variderhook in
Teeswater on Saturday and
Stephanie and Mike Sintson
from New York were home on
the weekend as well. Earl and
June Elliott enjoyed attending a
family bonfire. and barbecue at
the home of David and Teresa
Becker and boys in Wingham
on Sunday. Also attending
were John and Joyce Farnell,
Tanya and Tobi Kay.

Midget girls win by nine
The Lucknow Midget Girls
fast pitch team took on
Walkerton in their season
opener. Strong fielding and
terrific batting resulted in a
15-6 victory for Lucknow.
Outstanding fielding, both
infield and out. held a strong
hitting Walkerton team to six
runs. Chelsea Stanley and
Karly Howard _both pitched an
excellent game, accomplish-
ing a total of seven strikeouts.
Nelle Cook snagged a:ball on
short and made a sizzling
throw to first for the out: Left
fielder, Meghan Stanley, made
a great throw to catch the run-
ner advancing to second.
Lucknow bats dominated
at the plate. Robin
McDonagh started things
rolling with a . bases loaded
double, knocking in three
runs. Both Gina Murray and
Missy Kuik got on base every
bat, with Murray hitting a
home run. Brook Alton had a
mighty hit in the sixth which
brought in two runs
Their next home game will
