4-H club meet at the Todd farm
The St. .Helen's Shepherd's
4-H. club met at the farm of
Keith Todd, of Todd Sheep
Company. The theme of the
meeting was » nutrition. With
different pails of feed, ingredi-
ents, the group learned. which
feed was high in protein and
when the feeds are mixed
together, they learned it forms a
complete feed ration for the
milking ewes.
The group had a tour of the
sheep dairy barn and milk par-
lour. They saw how sheep are
milked and where the ewes are ,
housed to be milked.
The members also toured the
lamb barn where all new lambs
go when taken from their moth-
ers until they are old enough to
be . weaned from the milk
replacer. The Iambs are then
sent to another barn to mature
to be market lambs or replace-
ment ewes » for the farm.
