As a member of The War Amps Operation Legacy, in which members of the Association's Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program pass the NEVER AGAIN! message from war amputee veterans to the younger generation, I would like to inform the public of three important documentaries that tell of the sacrifice and heroism of Canadians on D -Day. Part of The War Amps ntemioilly award-winning Military Heritage Series, D -Day: The Story of the Canadian Assault Troops, tells of the achievements of Canadians, who got further inland on D -Day than any of the other foives. in Normandy; Operation Charnwood: The Canadian Battle for Caen, details the bar by be reme e all Canadian advance inland following the D -Day invasion; while Take No Prisoners: The Nazi SS in Normandy is a chilling • account of the execution of more than 130 Canadian soldiers by the Nazi SS following the Normandy invasion. Community Harvest Project is a A Community Harvest Growing Project is located on Hwy. 86 between Lucknow and Atnberle (Ashfield Twp.). It is coordinatedby local vol- unteers and supported by many area businesses and individuals. Community Harvest raises crops and funds in support of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. The Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) urges these resources to help feed and support hungry people in developing nations around the world. In 2008, Community Harvest grew 10 acres of soybeans on this site, pro- ducing a yield of 52 bushels per acre. The soybeans were then sold for a total of $5,228.33. Because of the generous support of our sponsors and donations from individuals, Community Harvest were able to send $16,500 to the CFGB. The Canadian government supports g these efforts through , the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Every dollar worth of fund- ing, grain or other aid committed by CFGB is matched 4:1 by CIDA. This means that the contribution raised last year is potentially worth - $82,500 in food aid. In 2009 corn will be grown on the same location. Anyone ' can get involved to ensure people in need get continued support and much needed food. The major sponsors for the 2008 project are Francis and Barb Hogan, Pioneer Hi -Bred Ltd., Lucknow District Co-op, Cargill Ag Horizons in Clinton, P & H Amberley Grain' Elevator, 'Thompson's in Port Albert, Edward Fuels and BASF.
