UCW have potluck
The Lucknow UCW
afternoon unit met on
May 5 sharing a bounti-
ful potluck lunch includ-
ing several gentlemen
who were invited to the
fine meal.
After lunch, leader
Karen Latour opened the
spring program with a
welcome and prayer. She
read an amusing article,
speculating on what if
Noah's Ark had to be
built today, the problems.
that would be faced with
building permits, zoning
laws, union labour, ani-
mal rights, layers of gov-
ernment and red tape. It
• would never get built or
on time if it were built.
Lois Walden ..read the
March minutes as' April
was a joint meeting with
SAM. Bakeless bake
sale envelopes were col-
lected and Shirley Bolt
gave the areas»ref's
report.
Helen Cleland read the
Least Coin newsletter,
which talked of the many
problems women in
Canada still face within
the justice system. It
dealt with physical and
emotional abuse.
Gertie Henderson read
a spring poem and we
sang "All Things Bright
and Beautiful". Gertie
read scripture from
Ecclesiastes 3:1-11.
Jean MacLeod gave a
reading from "A .Time to
Seek and a Time to
Throw Away". We . sang
"This is God's Wondrous
World." Jean read about
"Spring Blizzards
Blossoms" and "Mothers
are Wonderful" for.
Mother's Day.
She followed with
observations of the trilli-
um flower and its distinc-
tive
three petals for,
inspiring symbolism of
the Holy Trinity.

ent, with roses being a
frequent favourite.
Auxiliary hold season ending fund-raiser
The Wingham Hospital Auxiliary
held their season ending dessert
bridge, fund-raiser on Monday, May
4 in Wingham.
President Vema-Steffler welcomed
all the district participants with
Lucknow faring very well,staking all
of the prizes. Mary McIntosh with
5220 held the season's high single

score, Jane Treleaven had the high
aggregate score of 19,730 and Diana
May with 4660 was the high score
for the evening.
A lovely social evening was
enjoyed by all present.
The Lucknow Lawn Bowling
Club opened the season with their
new president Brian Doelman, who
presided over the potluck supper and
meeting on Thursday, May 7.
The bowlers will be on the greens
very soon. All new bowlers are wel-
come.
