the Pie River
Watershed
Committee with
help from the
Ripley Lions and
Ripley • 4-H
Conservation Club
planted 2400 trees
along the Pine
River at three loca-
tions. Jim Penner
of Saugeen
Conservation gave
a demonstration 'on
. planting trees and
an update on the
status of the Pine
River and Saugeen
River re -forestation
projects. At pres-
ent the Ping River
only has about 10.
per cent tree cover
and they would like
to have 30 per cent
for better erosion
control and water
shed health.
After lunch back
at Don and Cathy's,
the Conservation
Club decided to do
their road clean-up
on Bruce County
Road 7 and the 8th
Concession west of
Ripley. Thanks
to Anne Machines
- for organizing the
day.
Many Junior
Fanner Alumni
from the area were
in Port Elgin for the
Reunion Dance
with The Good
Brothers. Most of
us had our dancing
boots on and there
are still many who
can two-step, polka
and boogie like we
did in our W days.
