Full spa treatrnent available in village_ at Studio \C

People looking for that full spa treat-
ment no longer have to go to a big city
like Toronto to find it. Studio C salon and
spa, in Lucknow, caters to that ideal as the
owiers continuously expand to meet the
needs of their customers.
Scott and Karissa Chow started their
business in a smaller setting in the base-
ment of their former home on Place St.
Then it was hair styling and a teaching
studio for things like guitar lessons for the
couple, but they had a dream to expand
that and the dream of Studio C was born
when they purchased a house at 511
Havelock St. on Oct. 31, last year.
The purchase of , the house started the.
ball rolling as they worked for about 18
hours a day for 12 days to get the salon up
and running and by the end of November
the place was fully operational.
The dream of a bigger business came
together when Karis sa and her friend
Beth Hergott, a trained esthetician, talked
about working together. ether. This idea blos-
somed into what is now Studio C.
"Karissa and Beth were chatting one
day saying they should work together and
it was in a matter of six months that
Karissa and I decided to either go big or
go home," said Scott. "We wanted to
expand, but the basement on Place St.
wasn't the right .`setting. There was no
parking and it was residential and we did-
n't feel it was fair for the neighbours. So
we went pretty extreme and took the
place on Havelock St."
One of the big decisions of going big
was the ability'to offer a wide variety of
y
services that weren't available at their
Place St. location. The big change also
allowed the Chows to hire Beth as an
esthetician, another hairstylist in Amanda
Montgomery and Sarah Middleton as
their registered massage_ therapist.
With the larger staff, the Chows have
been able to offer a wide variety of serv-
ices such as full service hair care, mani-
cures, pedicures, hair removal, gel nails,
facial treatments, massage, etc.
They also have 'a wide assortment of
Studio C products.
It's not only the people of Lucknow
who enjoy the services of Studio C.
Through word of mouth, people from
areas such as Wingham, Ripley,
Kincardine, Point Clark, Port Elgin and
Southampton come to enjoy the full spa
treatment.
"There are a lot of businesses in the
area that are battling for the same $12
haircut and we don't want to go after the
same clientele as everyone else," said
Scott.
"Everyone who works here is really
good at what they do. Beth and I have
worked in larger centres for a long time
so we have a different perspective that we
. bring to the business," said Karissa.
Being part of the Lucknow Chamber of
Commerce has made Studio C a part of
the community that wants people to spend
locally, which benefits every business in
town.
"Everyone tries to keep the money in
the vige. We want to see everyone else
do well be use if they do well, that
means the village is flourishing," said
Scott.
The move to Havelock has been surre-
al. for Scott and Karissa and their dream
of a full treatment spa has been realized
and is continually growing. They have
benefited fromthesupport of the commu-
nity of Lucknow.
At the end of the day the Chows just
want to put the best quality of service out
there.
