This year, they worked on the Nunavut Challenge. The Sparks slept in "igloos", played games and made crafts originating in the territory. They also ate Nunavut food and learned some common phrases in Inuktitut language. Lancers battled all the way to the end .BY GARIN REID. Sentinel Staff The Senior A Lucknow L cers played . a v ' ant game Friday night in . Ilderton against the Lucan-llderton Jets as it was a do- or-die game five in the A champi- onship series, The Lancers made a late comeback _ in the third period, but they ended up losing the gamb 6- 5. The Lancers went down in the dame with a quick goal scored by the Jets to give them a • one goal lead. The Lancers did answer back with a goal of theirown a few 1 minutes later, but that didn't stop the Jets . from scoring another two unan- swered goals in the first period to jump out to a 3.1 lead going into the sec- ond period. The Lancers tried to.: clip into the Jets' lead by making the game 3-2 at they start of the second, but Lucan just kept coming and. by the tune the second period was over the Jets had, a big lead of 6-2. The third ;;period, however was all Lucknow. as they ,poured on the offence. t . scoring three- unanswered goals of their own making the score 6.5. It was too little too late Stor the Lancers- as they couldn't squeeze the equalizer by the Lucan goalie. Scoring ` for. the Lancers were James Mann 2, Brad Burton, Brian Stanley and Rick Andrew. Assists came from Mark Stanley 2, Dan Drennan, Brian Stanley 2, Adam MacDonald, Ryan Murky and Kyle *Quinn. The Lancers lost the A champi- onship, but they gave it their all and didn't give up until the last seconds of the game. The Lancers had a great season with a lot of ups and downs, but they pulled it together for the playoffs and gave their fans a great second sea son. They will, be back next year to give their fans the same excitement they doled out this season.
