The role of the feisty orphan, Oliver, is the first with the GWTG for Brontae Hunter. However, Brontae, who lives : in the Point Clark area with her parents and little brother, - Landon, is already an accomplished performer. A recent winner of the Ontario Open Country Singing Contest m Blyth' and a • two-time winner of Port Elgin' Pumpkinfes.t Harvest Star Search, she has also been a finalist at the Western Fair Junior Talent Search for the past three years. She .is a regular .per- former with the Travelling Barn Dance show and played Gretl Von Trapp in the Kincardine 'Theatre f Guikl's production of The Sound of Music. Brontae, who hopes to pursue ,a career in musical theatre, is enjoying her role in the pro- duction with the Harriston-based group. Although rehearsals involve a B long drive, it's pro- yided Brontae with an opportunity to o spendmore time w with her mother, th Paulette Lippert, th who plays Mrs. D Bedwin, a house- L keeper to Oliver's fi grandfather and also sings in the c show. While singing is second nature to this talent- ed nine-year-old, a Brontae enjoys the challenge of acting. 0 "It's fun because g you can express c what the character a is saying, but in your own way. The script doesn't give you a boundary of what the character is feeling," she said. . Playing a young boy in Oliver! is another new chal- lenge for Brontae, noting that, as Gretl Von Trapp in Sound of Music, "I played an extremely girly person." "Bmntae's been a delight to work with. The staging of liver! will also ive the guild a hance to showcase new state-of-the- art sound system d d r_ at: being installed in the Holliston Town Hill Theatre with the aid of a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The show, com- ing together under the guidance of director ``' Peggy Raftis and music director Brenda Manderson, both Harriston residents, features choreogra- phy by Jennie Aitken of Mount Forest and a cast of more than 30 tal- ented performers drawn from Harriston, Mount Forest, Listowel, Fordwich, Ayton,, Brontae Hunter Kincardine and throughout the area. Oliver! opens with a preview per- formance on April 23 and continues April 24, 25, 26 (matinee), 30, May 1, 2, 3 (matinee) 7, 8 and 9.
