1902 AMBERLEY RD.RR3 LUCKNOW - 1.5
storey fieldstone home situated on a 0.47 acre lot
with mature trees, pine floors on main level, cathe-
dral ceiling with skylights, electric forced air, wood-'
stove, low maintenance soffit/fascia: Now $167,000
the number of peo-
ple on assistance is
on the rise.
A review of the
numbers inspired
Councillor Bernie
MacLellan (Huron
East) to question
how tough times
are in the region.
Overboe says
while ; the county
continues to fare
well in comparison
to other regions,
there : is still con-
cern about the situ-
ation.
"Huron County
is a good place to
live because ' we
don't feel a reces-
sion as strongly,''
he says, noting
there are more
informal safety
nets in place, like
family members
that are willing to
lend a hand.
Indeed, he says,
though recessions
have generally not
hit Huron County
as hard as other
regions in Ontario,
the bad news is the
county is slower to
rebound.
"Generally
speaking, there's
always fanning
required," he says.
Accordg
in to sta-
tistics included in a
report, there were
493 residents on
Ontario Works
assistance at the
end of February
2009, while the
number sat at 357
cases in February
2008.
On the move
David Lew,
Emergency
Medical Services
manager, reports
the ambulance sta-
tioned at Seaforth
Community
Hospital • has
switched its hours
on standby to bet-
ter accommodate
the facility.
"The car has
been moved : to
on rise
later in the evening
to improve cover-
age," says Lew.
Lew also reports
a recent mass
. Cardio Pulmonary'
Resuscitation
training session,
which was held in
Exeter in February,
drew a great deal.
of interest. He says
that such events
could result in the
entire county's
population being
trained on CPR
Within five years.
"That's . a great
thing, I think, for
our citizens in
Huron County," he
says.
