"We're not in the steam business and we're no taking on new cus tomers,” said Cannon who said Canadian Agra' description outlining thei use of heated waterfrom the nuclear site is mis leading. "We're a privat company and we're no going to subsidize anoth er. Cannon said they inher ited the steam generating contracts for the Bruce Energy Centre when the company took over from Ontario Power Generation In 2001, while choosing to honour those obligations. Their inten- tion is to "get away" from steam supply and plan to negotiate the transfer of the Bruce Eco Industrial Park sewage and water services to the Municipality .of Kincardine • (MOK). Cannon said all of the warm water output from the plant meets environ- mental limits. MOK Chief Administrative Officer John deRosenroll said Bruce Power has indicat- ed its intention to work is with the municipality to at take over operations of h • the facilities. n deRosenroll said the sewage plant could .then connect to a number of t residents in the - Inverhuron area, as the plant is only at 50 per. s cent capacity.. The inten- r tion -would then be to connect a new municipal ▪ water line past e Inverhuron`` Provincial t Park and to the Industrial - Park. "Both. private industry -. and residents in the Inverhuron area could benefit," he said. Negotiations are - planned for this March. The municipality recently.. received a $1.9 million dollar federal and provincial grant for upgrades to Inverhuron's, sewer and water system. deRosenroll said the study will help assess whether the utilities "are better in public or private hands." The results of the B.M. Ross and Associates study will be brought back to council early in the new year. Canadiari Agra planned to have the boiler and dehydration plant up and running by April 30, 2009. •
