For the past year Lucknow Central
Public School and the Lucknow School
Community Council (SCC) have been
trying to get an official crossing guard
on Bob St., which is right in front of
LCPS. The SCC and LCPS feel it's too
dangerous for kids crossing the street on
their own ' with the amount of traffic
there when picking up and dropping off
students at school.
This ball got rolling by the previous
LCPS principal Doug Hutchinson who
sent a letter to Huron -Kinloss Twp.
looking to get the issue addressed. At
that time signs were put up and lines
painted on the road to direct students
where to cross the street.
LCPS and the SCC still thought there
was a need for a crossing guard to
ensure the safety of the students when
crossing the road.
"We -think the crossing guard option
is the best because there will be a cross-
ing guard there to help kids cross the
road. One of the reason this came to our
attention was, there's a lot of traffic
there when parents are picking up and
dropping off their kids to and from
school," said Diane Metcalfe chair of
the Lucknow SCC.
Diane Metcalfe made a presentation
to Huron -Kinloss council on March 2 to
further address the situation and to try
and obtain a crossing guard for Bob St.

not good for us," said
Cascone. For one thing,
to leave bags behind we
have the residents mad at
us, for another thing it's
holding us up terribly.
We are halfway to where
we should normally be
because we have
