Lucknow native gets involved

2009 Alzheimer Society. of Grey -Bruce
Walk for Memories.
"I have a brother-in-law named Ken
who . was diagnosed with Alzheimer dis-
ease at the age of 67. It's why I decided to
get involved," said Carter, a . Lucknow
native.
Walker along with other who who
raised $1,000 or more in any of the three
local Walks, in Owen Sound, Hanover
and Saugeen Shores, was entered to win a
night's stay at each of six bed and break-
fasts, and gift certificates towardsdinner
atnearby restaurants. Carter raised more
than $6,100- for the Hanover Waik, the
most ever raised by any walker in Grey -
Bruce.
"I chose to walk in Hanover and my
goal was to raise $2,000. I started accept-
ing pledges on Christmas Day, from fam-
ily and Others up to Jan. 31:" said Carte`.
"I , received pledges that far exceeded my
expectations. My 368 , sponsors generous-
ly handed over $6,169.03."
Carter's draw prize was presented by
Deborah Barker, Executive Director of
the Alzheimer Society of Grey -Bruce.

"You could meet kids who were very
proud of themselves for reaching their
goals. You were bale to see the hurt in
some of the walkers' eyes and . their
expressions. It was all about sharing and
caring," said Cartery
