ear Editor,
Huron County for Children of
Chernobyl is looking for loving families
to host a child from Belarus in the sum-

Our charitable group was formed in
1998 for the purpose of bringing children

Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986.
Their homeland is affected by the toxic
pollution found in the soil, plants, food,
air and water. Our fresh air and nutritious

tem and reverse the ill effects of radioac-
tive contaminants they are exposed to on
a daily basis. Our tender loving care
gives them a reason to smile and a fight-

We fund -raise as a group to cover all
travel expenses to bring the children to
Canada.
There are many benefits and rewards to
be gained from hosting a child and a won-
derful learning experience for our own
children.
Host families may request a child, boy
or girl, who they think would 6e best suit-
ed to fit in easily with their family life.
Interested families may apply for the pro-
gram by calling Lynn Dawe at 519-527-

uron county youth
travel to Kenya
Dear Editor,
•
Eighteen youth from throughout Huron County will
head off to Masai Mara, Kenya on July 1st tobuild a
school. They will be there for two weeks and hope to
make a difference in the world by helping others. They
also hope to change their own perspectives on life by wit-
nessing how 80 per cent of the world's population lives.
Earlier this year, St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School
invited Marc Kielburger to speak to area youth. Marc
Kielburger is the Chief Executive Director of Free the
Children, the world's largest network of children helping
children through education. He has changed the lives of
•millions of young people and St. Anne's students were no
exception. His message of hope was enthusi tically
received as he promoted his philosophy that moves from
'Me to We'.
Craig and Marc Kielburger challenged Ontario youth
to raise enough money this year to build 100 schools in
developing countries. St. Anne's Catholic Secondary
School presented Marc with a cheque for $8,500 on Nov.
6 with the. money raised from their annual walk -a -thou
fundraiser. They were the first school to participate in
the provincial challenge.. The youth wanted to take their
support to : the next level by traveling to Kenya to actual-
ly build the school.
Students from Seaforth, Exeter, Goderich, Bayfield,
Blyth, Zurich, Mount Carmel, Brussels and Clinton are
excited to be heading off on a journey of a lifetime. They
will be planning several different fundraisers over the
next six months and are asking for the support of their
communities.
These students are embracing the words of Gandhi,
"You must be the change that you wish to see in the
world".
