Lancers take a tough 6-4 loss at home
BY GARIT REID
Sentinel Staff
The Lucknow
Lancers started off
strong in their last
regular season
home game of the
year against the
Palmerston 81 's,
but fell short in
the end as they
lost the game, 6-4.
In ,his WOAA
Senior A tilt, the
Lancers came out
of the gate strong
as they played a
tight shut down
defense style of
play, which .didn't
allow Palmerston
to break through.
It also created
the odd give away
by the 81 's and the
Lancers capital-
ized on those mis-
takes in the first
period.
Lucknow, went
up 2-0 with a lot
of momentum
going into the sec-
ond period of play.'
They kept it
going and the
Lancers seemed to
take' a command-
ing lead of 3-0
about midway
through the peri-
od.
Strong goaltend-
ing was alsoa key
factor -for the
Lancers' lead, but
the team's good
play dissipated as
Lucknow had
some penalty trou-
ble.
Palmerston shot
back with two
quick powerplay
goals, which got
them back in the
game.
The 81 's equal-
ized just a few
minutes later
make the game 3-
3, much to the
chagrin of the
Lancers squad.
Palmerston kept
the pressure on in
the third period

manding lead of 5-
3.
Lucknow
chipped away at
the lead by scor-
ing one of their
own in the third,
but Palmerston
replied just a few
seconds later to
put the game out
of reach.
The Lancers
seemed to have
played . two differ-
- ent
iffer--ent games last
Friday night.
They . played
stellar hockey in
the first period,
but seemed to fall
apart a little m the
last two. periods of
the game.
"They have a
good team with a
lot of skillful play-
ers. We just have
to play simple by
getting the puck
in. Wedidthat in
the first period,
that's why we
were up. It kind_ of
broke apart in the
second, but it hap-
pens, said Lancers
goalie Erol
Kahraman.

Consistency will
be something, the
team will need as
they go into the.
playoffs. The
Lancers are siz-
zling when they
are on their game
and they will look
to stay that way as
they take on the
Elora Rocks this
weekend in the
first round of heir
playoffs:
ke apart Nottawasaga by 8
Murley gotihis first
career hat -trick as
a Lancer and his
third goal came on
a penalty. shot.
Stanley chipped in
five goals. The
trio have really
clicked since being
joined - three games
ago. This is good
news as the
Lancers have a
tough playoff
series against
Elora.

My mommy (Karissa) and daddy (Scott)
wanted me to wave and introduce myself.
My name is Ever Elizabeth Chow and I
was born on January 26, 2009 at 9:40 pm.
I was a pound heavier than my big sister
Lachlan, at 7 lbs. 10 oz., but just as cute.
It was awesome to meet my grandparents
Irene Parker, William Dickie, Alan & Alice
Chow and Uncle Shea and Aunt's B.
Thank you to all the nurses and especial-
ly Dr. Cheryl Hillyer who took such great
care of my mommy and I. Hope to meet
you all soon once the snow melts.
