Music festival is a
BY GARIT REID
Sentinel Staff
The Lucknow and District
Kinsmen presented their plans
for the Lucknow Music
Festival to Huron -Kinloss
council at the Jan: 19 meeting.
They were hoping council
would support them.
The one -day event, pro-
posed by a group of Kinsmen
members, could attract 6,000
people with a `target of around
six bands.
Council' passed a resolution
authorizing up to $150,000 be
made available to the organiz-
ers. Kinsmen ; member Rick
McMurray said an outside
producer has been hired and
that other clubs may be
involved in the venture. ` The
Lucknow Music Festival
would take place at the soccer
complex in the village on Aug.
22.
Parking issues will:.:
resolved by the Kinsmen bus-
ing in the people.
The Kinsmen had a vote to
confirm the music festiVal . at
their Jan 21 meeting and they
received 86 : per cent approval
for the festival from their fel-
low members.
The Kinsmen are looking
for volunteers; about 200-400
for the day to run the event.
The Kinsmen -believe this
event will be beneficial for the
community. It will help the.
conunity by raising. money
for local projects.. The music
festival will have entertain-
ment that people normally
only see in the city, put Huron -
Kinloss on, the map and will
generate. ate economic stimulus
for the area.
"We want to be right where
the rubber hits the road," said
McMurray about putting on
the best music festival possi-
ble.

1990fire truck status
On Jan. 12, Deputy Chief
Mark Whynott and two of his
mechanics from . the
Municipality of Markstay-
Warren came to look at the
1990 pumper truck surplused
from the Ripley -Huron Fire
Department. They purchased it
for $12,500. This is the same
municipality who purchased
the 1992 Lucknow truck.
Health is the major issue.
From page. 1
Schneider and
Acciona believe
the residents of
Ripley might not
be looking at every
factor that could
be. causing these
health issues and
went on to say, "It
would be great if
we could make the
proper adjustment,
but studies just
haven't found any-
thing conclusive."
One of the major
concerns of the
Huron -Kinloss
residents is the
electricity output,
but again
Schneider said
Acciona complet-
ed a test and con-
cluded voltage was
within normal lim-
its. im-
its.
Some Huron -
Kinloss residents
have been having
health issues ever
since the turbines
became opera-
tional, this is why
they are looking
for help from the
municipality and
the,provincial gov-
ernment to assist
in.: resolving their
issue.
"We aren't shut-
ting the door on
the , residents
because', from our
perspective we
feel we'te part of
the community,"
said Schneider.
