Cody Hamilton
of Lucknow, is liv-
ing his _ dream of
playing pro hockey
and for a small
town Canadian boy
he's taken his
ongoing journey
all the way to
Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Hamilton is cur-
rently in his first
year with the
Central Hockey
League's Tulsa
Oilers playing
defense.
One might ask
how Hamilton
found his way all
the way to Tulsa,
but the team does a
lot = of scouting in
Canada to find tal-
ent.. Almost half
the team : is made of
Canadian born
players.
Small towns in
Canada seem to
produce; Uie major-
" ity of hockey play-
ers worldwide,"
said Hamilton.
Hamilton is a
product of that
environment, but
attributes - bard
work and determi-
nation plus a lot of
help from 'his fami-
ly for getting him
where he is today.
"My parents and
family really influ-
enced my game to
get me where I am.
Also coming from
a small town. really
inspired me to go
out there and get
something I really
love," said
Hamilton.
Hamilton played
the majority of his
amateur career
with Lucknow
teams and for FE
Madill, his high
school ' team. For
Hamilton they 'are
critical starting
points for getting
him to Tulsa and
working on making
the game he loves
into his career.
"Playing hockey
in Lucknow and
also high school
hockey in
Wingham for FE
Madill has helped
me to get where , I
am today. Every
little : piece of ice
time you can get
goes a long way,
said Hamilton.
Not only has the
move to Tulsa
helped Hamilton in
his hockey career,
it has helped him
grow as a person.
The transition on
the ice • has been
helped by his fel-
lowteammates and
off the ice it .has

Even though
head coach of _ the
Tulsa Oilers Tony
Martino is new to
the team, he has
seen a lot of poten-
tial in Hamilton's
play,
At 6'2" 196 lbs,
Martino knows
Hamilton can
always get bigger,
faster and stronger
and through' his
new off ice condi-
tioning program
he's bringing to the
team, Martino is
confident.
Hamilton will real-
ize his potential.
"He's a good
skater, tough on thea
puck and a true
competitor. He has
the ability to play
through injury. He
also . has ar, good
frame on, him and
with some more
weight, he can get
that much
stronger," said
Martino
Martino also
believes the more
lice time Hamilton
gets the better it
will make him. He
already has shifts
on the power play
and the penalty
kill, which will
hone his skills to
be a a ` good, overall
defenseiaai.

will make him a
better player. I
think he has the
potential to play in
the American
Hockey League
(AHL)," said
Martino:
Only time will
tell bow far
Hamilton will
make it inhis
hockey career.
With his hard work
and determination
mixed with his nat-
ural. abilities the
sky is -tire limit for
him.
This season
Hamilton currently
has one goal, three
assists and 24
penalty minutes in
24 games for the
Oilers.
"Playing hockey
you take it one day
at a time. You work
hard in the season
and off. The ulti-
mate dream is to
play as long as I
can stay healthy.
It's hard to say, but
I will . strive to play
in the American
