gets new warden
News -record Staff
There is' a new warden in Huron county.
South Huron Mayor Ken Oke was choL.
sen as county warden for 2009, following
a. secret ballot held before a packed cham-
ber of supporters for both Oke and outgo-
ing warden John Bezaire (Central Huron)
who was seeking a second consecutive
term 'in office. -
Coun. Bernie MacLellan (Huron East)
put forth Bezaire's nomination.
Calling Bezaire a "direct and eloquent
speaker," MacLellan said Bezaire
deserves a second term at the helm
because of his county boosterism and ded-
ication to the position.
Noting Bezaire is "quick to praise all
areas of Huron County for their accom.-
plishments," MacLellan also noted
Bezaire has been "fair to all members of
council."
"He's able to move the meetings along
when council begins to ramble," said
MacLellan, adding Bezaire also deserves
kudos for being well versed in the coun-
ty's procedural bylaws while avoiding any
area of potential conflict as warden.
"John does not shy away. from a prob-
lem," said MacLellan; noting Bezaire was
among the first to step up whenthe loom-
ing Volvo plant closure in Goderich was
announced. MacLellan also gave kudos
for Bezaire's'volunteer work on other bod-
ies outside of Huron County, including the
Southwest Economic Alliance (SWEA),
a provincially supported regional group
designed to promote marketing, invest-
ment and infrastructure renewal.
Bezaire was the first to take to the
'microphone to plea fora second term.
"We've been through quite a bit the last
couple of years," said Bezaire, noting the
past year included making some "difficult
decisions."'

Love has power
over any disease
BY GARIT REID
Sentinel Staff
With it being
Alzheimer -'s awareness
month; people should • be.
aware that for many it's a
disease they canlive with.
All they need is a some
support. and they usually
find this in their loved ones.
This goes the same. for
Walter Breckles who gives
his wife the support she
needs to deal with the
memory . loss she has from
time to time.
For Breckles, it isn't
something that effects he
and his wife's day to day
routine. It's dealing with
some memory loss, which
at times he states can be
frustrating. However, it's
just a minor thing when it
comes to the love and
de4iotion he has towards his
wife. .
"It's something that we
live with. • It's for better or
worse, for richer or for
poorer. We're married. It's.
our vows and I honour
them," said Breckles.
A lot of people think
Alzheimers is automatical-
ly something that takes a
person's memory away, but
it's different for a lot of
people.
For some it takes longer
than others and it usually
only affects .short-term
memory loss.
It's something that is dif-
ferent with every person
and obtaining as much
information on the disease
is vital for knowing how to
deal with Alzheimers.
Meetings held by such:
organizations like the
Grey -Bruce Alzheimers
Society who come to cov-
erage areas like Lucknow
from time to time, try to
inform people like Breckles
about the disease apd try to
give them as tiuch infor-
mation as . possible.
